Greatest fans in the world? You better believe it

1196

Some weeks ago I received a painting of Neil Lennon in the post from US based artist, Joseph Gormley.  We put it onto eBay this week to get our launch our 2012 charity fundraising efforts.  As well as a couple of local charities we will again donate to the Martin Chambers Ecuador Trust and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.  After so many Celtic fans have been touched by three kids, Oscar, Niamh and Vanessa, this year we added The Neuroblastoma Alliance who do research work into the childhood cancer.

The auction raised an incredible £5000.  When I contacted the winning bidder and discussed some of the stories behind the beneficiaries I had to insist he took the painting, he was so affected he wanted to return it for another auction to raise more money.  Joseph Gormley was so inspired by the success of the auction he has already offered to paint other subjects for us and I have a jersey signed by the Seville team in the pipeline.

So, if you were one of those who bid an incredible amount but were pipped at the post (and there were a few in this category), there will be another chance soon.

Running this blog gives me the privilege of witnessing so many great works, most of which come with the request of anonymity.  It’s a real honour.

Well done and thank you.

Gordon_J …… They shouldn’t have had jellyfish in the first place, and a multitude of other players they couldn’t afford …… Their cheating / shameless ‘culture’, throught their club is astounding……

Well, accountability has arrived……(still cannot believe they haven’t been binned yet, due to non-submission of audited account since JUNE 2010)

MWD – fully agree about refusing to play them. Don’t see it happening though.

In my opinion, I just can’t see them being in the SPL next season. The court cases alone will drag on for many months, maybe even years, with the possibility of certain individuals being tried for fraud.

Powder still dry, but the muskets are being checked in preparation for a massive week ahead.

  3. Did i hear that right

Spanner just said on Sky that the SPL meet on Tuesday to decide if Rangers should have a licence to play in Europe next season?

I thought it was the SFA who decided such matters?

    BSR,

its Jennings i’d be more concerned about. Watch how many fouls he commits before he is booked (if indeed at all!).

Last season at the coo park he committed more fouls against us ALONE, than his WHOLE TEAM did against the huns at Ibrokes a few weeks later!

    HAIL! HAIL!

Surely if the hun players got agreed release clauses then D&P have not been acting in the creditors interest. Those 9 players could have been sold for more than Miller is offering ?

I know they have to reach a compromise with regards keeping the company running as a going concern but this must be a step too far.

I can see Ibrox being converted into a jail soon for blue collared workers.

  7. TTTT – I agree about the hostile media – but it was ever thus and in my opinion their response to us is irrelevant. They will continue to attack us no matter what. They are also on very thin ice at the moment – they are having a hard time trying to justify the unjustifiable.

For me thia is about Celtic signalling their intent to the supporters. It would be very simple for Celtic to come out and say they dont find the SPL proposals acceptable and will be oppossing them vigerously. Its that simple – but it would reassure our support and its hard to argue with even for our media. The fact that they havent said anything suggests that the club is okay with the proposals.

We have seen the way the Board have treated the support in the past – it is ever money over anything else. Do you trust them to do the right thing? And if so why arent they giving out the right signals?

  8. Celtic will respond to the media garbage re Rangers end days when the time is right and do all the right things.

Win today and it sets up another “title winning” day against them at paradise(with no points deduction) which while not important would be very satisfying and they would hate it.

  9. A son of dan @08.13,quite frankly,it’s your post which is disgusting, yes,we were all sorry to see young Feruz leave but,to call him a scumbag, ridiculous reaction,as for the slur on his family, you ought to feel ashamed to have written such a thing, even if you had concrete, iron clad proof,it would still have no place here.My advice,go back, have a think about what you have said, and consider if it has any place on this board, how ironic that you posted that filth under a topic hailing the greatest fans in the world.

NegAnon2 ……… FUD of the highest order, or hurting wee bhun, you’ know best

  11. 67heaven – a remarkable response – full of insight etc etc

May I suggest that your response has a tinge of hunnism about it? After all they are the mob that refused to question their club.

So tell me 67heaven – do you think our Board will do the right thing?
