Green is wrong, players are all free agents

191

“If the players choose not to transfer they will then be in breach of contract” said Charles Green yesterday.  How desperate is this man?  Rangers players, every single one of them, work for Rangers Football Club PLC, a company which come Friday will no longer employ them.  They have a contract with Rangers Football Club PLC but the company is unable honour those contracts. Some players may choose to accept a job offer from Sevco, but Sevco has absolutely no right to intimidate or make legal claims on them. It can certainly not make threats based on breach of a contract another company is actually breaching.

The important question for you to consider is not whether Green is correct in his claim (he is not), it is why is he making such a statement?  Why mislead people and attempt to intimidate Rangers employees in this way?

Charlie doesn’t even have the keys yet and it looks like he is already miles off plan.  We like Charlie.  Lots.

I’ve got a reasonable working knowledge of TUPE reg’s and agree……but……what about player registrations held at the SFA?

My understanding is that they will revert to the SFA. True that?

My congrats to you on this reward for your perseverance, well-deserved when many had given it up.

A quick question-if you were in a meeting with Charlie, and he told you it was raining, would you look out the window just to check?

He’s an inveterate liar from the sound of it.

Unlike most boxers, I’m retiring at the top-no more podium chasing for me!

  7. SwanseaBhoy, correct. The registrations revert to the SFA, not any other company. The players are not contracted to the SFA, however, and the SFA cannot and will not pay them. The players, therefore, become free agents.

  9. BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP, under those circumstances I would suggest that it was certainly not raining. Looking out the window to check would surely be a waste of time.

    GourockEmeraldBhoy , you’re welcome.

ibleedgreenandwhite1, correct. Newco is a different company.

    Morning all

It’s been said so many times over the past couple of months and repeatedly by me.I’m gpoing to say it just one more time.I’m sure you all won’t mind. I just knew, I tell you I just knew right back to the Souness days that something was not right. Souness and then Watty and wee Dick were all given carte blanche with signings and massive wages, oh and something called EBT’S! The one thing that sticks in my craw is that DM constantly bummed about how much money he was throwing into the club.Well now we know. £000000.0000. It was all taxpayers money that was paying for the Gazza’s, Laudrups et al. Of course it wasn’t just murray that was cheating the taxman. Mr Ogalvie and many others were at it. They robbed us of titles and other teams of trophy’s. I feel so strongly that they should be stripped of these. Take everything that’s coming Murray et al. Who can forget those words “for every fiver………….” Cheating at the very highest level! I should feel so happy today after yesterdays news but I just feel so bloody angry at what they have done all those years. hopefully the joy will kick in soon.

Paul67 – How desperate is this man?

I almost couldn’t believe it. Apparently Green doesn’t realise they abolished slavery in this country some time ago.

Or he thought that footballers don’t have access to agents and lawyers who know that TUPE doesn’t stand for “indentured service”.

Or the blunt-speaking Yorkshireman is a fabulist like Prince Albert’s pal, Craig Whyte, and equally prone to saying whatever he imagines will advance his interests at any given moment, however implausible.

Given that the Rangers players took massive pay cuts to help their club complete its fixtures and avoid immediate redundancies, I don’t think they’ll be terribly impressed with Mr Green’s belief that he can threaten them into to transferring their employment to a new company he owns.

And surely it’s time for Green to put up or shut up? He’s been making a lot of silly noise for a man who doesn’t have any stake or standing in Scottish football. Has anybody actually seen this £2 he allegedly promised Craig Whyte? (thumbsup)

In the best tradition of the club formally known as Rangers, I sense a late challenge on Charlie – in a bid to get hold of the Asbestos Dome.

  21. good morning all,

I woke up in a very good humour this morning!!!!!

Could have been something to do with watching bbc scotland last night and hearing the man who is a rep of supporters of an old company who used to have a football club playing in scotland!!!!

Can’t quite remember the name, something to do with a new york ice hockey team (i think)!!!!!!!

Anyway he was spouting on about a newco (NEW COMPANY) but kept using the word continue!!!!

How can something NEW continue anything?? It is new and therefore NOT the OLD company or club or whatever that it wishes to replace!!!!

Hi Paul, just wanted to say thanks for your amazing work on cqn. This, for me goes back to being a teenager and reading an article in the herald in the late 90s fawning over David Murray’s rangers and how they will have a team for spl and a team for Europe etc. Sickening stuff and i just knew something was wrong. Your articles on rangers financial matters had me hooked from the start (was it 2004?) and provided me with a viewpoint NO mainstream paper was prepared to give. Now we have the endgame and you, phil, rtc and the others are shining bright.

Great job Paul. I am just about to phone the old man and have a celebratery drink over the phone with him. Rangers are dead.

Can you or any on CQN explain why Green would be able to acquire the assets ie Ibrox and Moses Park for 5.5m. I was under the impression from their auditors that these assets were worth 110m only a season ago.

I’m thinking of putting an offer in. “Scottish Australian billionaire comes to the rescue of Ibrox United.”

  25. ‘Call Kay’. Some current bun tells us that there is ‘a bit if Rangers in us all’. ……..heaven forbid. Straight to a surgeon to get it cut out!
