GREEN LIGHT FOR JENZ – A YEAR LATE

MORITZ JENZ is heading for Celtic – a YEAR after CQN reported Ange Postecoglou’s initial interest in the versatile defender.

The German, who can operate at right-back or in central defence, has been given the green light to finally join up with the Greek-Australian gaffer at Parkhead, according to a report in French sports journal L’Equipe.

Jenz, 23, is poised to agree a season-long deal from Ligue 1 side Lorient as Postecoglou continues to strengthen his squad with Australia playmaker Aaron Mooy also on his way.

ON HIS WAY…Moritz Jenz is heading for Celtic after last summer’s interest.

The Hoops boss is on the look-out for back-up to first-choice Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt who dovetailed well in the title-winning campaign.

The pair developed a solid understanding as the campaign unfolded, but there is a lack of cover with Stephen Welsh being utilised in place of injured Swedish international Starfelt.

Christopher Jullien’s future is still in the balance after his proposed loan move to newly-promoted Bundesliga side Schalke collapsing due to a personal financial snag.

Postecoglou never lost sight of Jenz, despite the back-four performer opting for a switch to Lorient when he moved from Lausanne-Sport last summer. He is under contract until June 2026, but he will now be given the opportunity to show his worth to the Celtic manager.
