GREEN LIGHT FOR PALMA?

LUIS PALMA could be heading for Rayo Vallecano – just days after it looked as though his proposed move had been scuppered.

Negotiations for Celtic’s Honduran international winger’s loan-to-buy switch to the Spanish club were brought to an abrupte halt by red tape.

FIFA slapped a three-window transfer ban on the La Liga outfit, but the suspension has been lifted after the world’s governing soccer body and the Madrid club resolved a “misunderstanding”, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

Rayo were originally hit by the punishment over an alleged £85,000 unpaid debt.

THE FINAL HURDLE…Luis Palma races past Dundee defender Ryan Astley.

However, the situation has been resolved and Rayo are now allowed to sign players with immediate effect.

Palma, who cost the Hoops £3.5million from Greek side Aris Thessaloniki in July 2023, has made only two starts in his 11 appearances for the champions this season.

The 24-year-old wide Bhoy came on as a 70th-minute substitute for South Korean Yang Hyun-jun in the Hoops’ 3-3 draw with Dundee at Dens Park earlier this week.

Palma is also listed in Brendan Rodgers’ Champions League squad and any impending move could be delayed until after January 29 with Celtic due to play Switzerland’s Young Boys at Parkhead on Wednesday and Aston Villa in the Midlands the following week.

The transfer window is scheduled to close on Monday February 3.
