GREEN LIGHT: TWO NEW BHOYS ON WAY

1

NEIL LENNON is closing in on deals for AEK Athens keeper Vasilias Barkas and West Ham forward Albian Ajeti.

Celtic have had an enhanced bid of £4.5million accepted by the Greek outfit for their 10 times-capped keeper and there are only a couple of clauses in the contract to be agreed before the 26-year-old arrives in Glasgow.

The champions have upped their initial bid of £3.5million, as reported in CQN, and there are likely to be add-ons that will take the deal close to £5.5million. AEK are also insisting on a 10 per cent sell-on clause with Barkas ready to sign a four-year contract.

The Hoops expect to make progress in their bid for a new shotstopper within the next 48 hours.

Scott Bain is likely to face Hamilton Accies in the Premiership opener at Parkhead on Sunday while Irishman Conor Hazard played the entire 90 minutes of the 3-1 closed-door win over Hibs yesterday where Patryk Klimala scored twice and Karamoko Dembele also claimed his first goal for the club.

Swiss international forward Ajeti has accepted a season-long switch to Lennon’s side and is likely to be unveiled as the club’s latest addition at Lennoxtown tomorrow, according to a report on Sky Sports News.

Scotland’s title kings have the option to make the move permanent at around the £5million mark for the 23-year-old striker who cost the London club £8million when they signed him from Basel.
