Green: Scottish football effectively is Rangers and Celtic

910

Charles Green told TalkSport, “Scottish football effectively is Rangers and Celtic. I mean, there are many other clubs but everyone has to acknowledge that that’s a fact.”

No, no, no, no.  No.  This is not a fact, it is not even a credible opinion.  Instead it is deeply insulting to dozens of teams who conduct their business properly year after year. I have to ask, does he want this project to fail? He is effectively saying – Vote for this plan, you are irrelevant, we are all that matters and this suits our purposes.

It was this erroneous attitude which led to predictions of Armageddon this season.  Instead, the long-suffering clubs who have paid their bills, while others put money which should have gone to the tax man towards buying fooballers, are enjoying a rebirth.

Green added, “Scottish football needs Rangers back at the top and Rangers being a vital part of European football. That’s where we’re trying to get them.”

This is a great season for the SPL.  Financially responsible Hibs, who lost the Scottish Cup final to irresponsible Hearts, are top.  Celtic, with their manageable, low, debt, have just beaten Barcelona in the Champions League.  Aberdeen have their best team in years.  Attendances are up for most clubs.

Before adding, “The Old Firm is the world’s biggest derby.  That’s what world football wants, what broadcasters and sponsors wants, to see those games again.  God willing we’ll see that in the years ahead.”

“The Old Firm” is not the world’s biggest derby, it’s not even Glasgow’s biggest derby.  It doesn’t exist anymore.  As for it being “what world football wants”!  Oh dear.  World football has better things to concern itself with, and don’t bring God into it!

The authenticity of the “Rangers Football Club plc” slideshow presentation which appeared last night is not confirmed, but I hope it’s genuine. It is, literally, fantastic. Notions contained therein that provide for “colts” teams and league reconstruction which “could see Rangers progress faster through the domestic league structures” bring it into perfect alignment with the Scottish Football League plans, which earlier this week Charles Green revealed would be presented today.

I also loved the first point on the summary page, “Profitable business model using prudent assumptions”, despite no mention of future costs, or revenues, in the presentation. Nice that they have confirmed revaluations of property assets at £79m, a fraction of the value the assets were disposed for in the summer.

This will not end well.

  1. Talk Sport’s Adrian Durham is a wind-up merchant who has little knowledge of football outside of London. He slags off anyone to get a reaction.

His pet hate though, strangely, is actually Celtic.

He was even running down The Barca result last week.

  2. I know within my heart that they died. I have the comfort of knowing it to be true and the pleasure of having shared it with all you.

We played them for the last time in that game where Gary Hooper scored an absolutely wonderful goal in the second half at Celtic Park which although will forever be known as the last goal scored in a Celtic V Rangers derby, will never be given the credit it is due for sheer ruthlessness.

But the work afoot at Madame Toussaud’s? The complicity? The largesse with rules (RULES)?

    To qualify The Rangers?

For years – and years – and years – we (Glasgow Celtic) were seen as a one trick pony and out to pasture.

Whilst the old ‘foe’ spent like sailors on shore leave.

Well, as much as they enjoyed their period of pounds and pence, the Devil came a calling and passed judgement.

    Dead.

    That was all she wrote.

I choose to move, only forward, yet, stay firmly in the moment.

    There is no them.

Their residue are at work cobbling together the script for Alien 3 at a football level.

    There is no them.

    There was.

    But there ain’t no more.

Just like I can attest that there ain’t no chevrolet showroom in downtown Cairo anymore. (Google it)

Was there. No one disputes it. But it’s something else now.

Or how they had paid all outstanding football monies to gain membership. They don’t seem to have done that either have they?

No – I guess it was good enough for the SFA to say that they would!

  7. Plan ‘save sevco’ has not gone away. Preposterous. All timed to coincide with a share issue. This is how old boy networks, management cabals and secret societies work. I see it regularly in action.

It is a reasonable proposal but being done for all the wrong reasons.

That said sevco will do well to get to and stay in the top league…..

Irn Bru merge with Robinsons. Theyll be out of Scotland within the next 5 years. Notthin surer!!

  9. Would I be right in saying that SevcoFC need to produce,at the end of May 2013, audited accounts for the this year, so that the first time they can compete in Europe is 3 years after this, so that would make it season 2016-17, or am I adding on a year or two on too much?

(I’m not counting a pre-season tourney against 7th Div opposition in the West Bavarian League in Germany as competing in Europe btw. Although I know Challs might!)

You reap what you sow,the more that comes their way the more deserved it has been.

Green is in a panic now,he will rabble daily hoping to sell shares.

Someone should tell him…the huns are only loyal if they’re winning.

Never touched it – didn’t think there was anything worthwhile – meaningless friendlies.

Mind you was touting Togo at one stage and could have got 4/1!

  12. Watching the highlights of the Sweden game…. the supremacists chanting, at 2-1 to their favourites.. “1-0, and you f**ked it up”….. taunting the supposedly inferior team…

I quite like the international games, always good for a few bob.

I did one in play where Sweden were 6/1 and 3 others who came in, feckin Cameroon, but got one up so all is not too bad.

  14. TET

Thought Sweden + Greece (in play) looked good but by that time Poland + Belgium (to lose) were already behind – so I declined my 3 from 4 and all 4.

African/ South American teams give me as much problem as the SPL does. :-)

Thanks for posting that ………. No wonder all 3 panelists were smiling ……… Surely the zombie2 fans have realised by now that greengo’s strategy is to clear off the current cash flow problem, pocket a few million, sell to the highest (LOL) bidder, and walk away …….. with liquidation then following …….. He makes Whyte look like an amateur…….they are both con men, but greengo is more of a ‘pied piper’ ……… all very entertaining…….

  16. Kayal 33 – thanks for the link. Basically 3 guests scared to say Green is full of BS and that his financial projections utterly without credibility. Instead they say they appear a bit on the high side but he’s going in the right direction. Critical analysis at its worse. Fair enough for the supporter to stick to the script but the other two were wetter than Marti Pellow.

    KK @ 18.54,

Quite likely “MYNAH BIRD” would give the wrong answers, but the questions that you cite aren’t even right.

“World over-population” isn’t a fact: some people CLAIM that it exists.

The Palestinians haven’t brought their situation on themselves, but to claim that they’re in a “concentration camp” is ludicrous.

    ________________________________

I am sorry that you feel I have got my questions wrong. Maybe next time you can help me in trying to make myself clearer.

I accept that the world is not yet over-populated. Maybe that’s why I think that ‘bigger & better bombs’ are just a wee bit of an over-reaction. I could, of course, be wrong.

Maybe I just think the suggestion is crass & inhuman.

Concentration camp ? Maybe that is a bit extreme. Not a lot though.

When a farmer has lived across the road from his fields for centuries, but now finds that he has to travel 50 miles to get access to his own land, because an 8 metres high wall has been built between him & his farm, I will let YOU tell me what you would call his situation.

I will then stop using emotive language about this man’s situation.

At the moment I have no issue with you.

You have not preached fascism for years on this site.

If you do then I will condemn you for as long as I have breath in my body, as I do with the Mynah Bird or any other fascist.

It took me ages talking to them on the chat thing to get it payed for a 4 timer, I didn’t know that Iceland had already won, and they were accepting bets for them.

At least they sorted it and paid out…

  19. Right – bed for me after watching that turgid Scotland performance.

Interesting that Goldstein and Cundy are talking-up our FF big time – they reckon Hodgson should have given him the 2nd half after his Barca performances.

A last-16 for us and IMO – FF will be in the £7M and climbing market!

Thanks for that link to The Rangers growth plans. I notice the biggest threat to them was not mentioned. By that I mean Celtic.

If I were Celtic/PL my biggest worry would be that for Green’s plan to succeed, Celtic would have to fail. I have no worries that on the field we can more than hold our own, it is what takes place off the field to minimise the risk of failure at The Rangers that would worry me.

If I were Celtic/PL I would be insisting on the tightest of financial controls and removal of any ability the SFA might have to control referees by their reporting on them and rewarding their performance..

Best for us if the share issue goes belly up.

  21. TET,

    They were trying it on.

Your bet automatically becomes a foursome with the Iceland game void.

    Well done.

This is gonna end up like the Rocky sequels. Zombie 2 is packing them in but by the time they reach Zombie 5 itll be B movie stuff. The punch drunk huns will have been well fleeced by then. I still think there’s a starring role for Bomber ‘dont even buy a pie while Green’s in charge’ Brown. Perhaps hes auditioning for Zombie 3.

My first post on this fine blog, and a true appreciation to Paul for the BCCC ( Brilliant Celtic Communication Channel ). From my frequent visits to CQN, I remember a post about Simeone’s cafe in Whitecrook Street, where Joe, used to escape from the Mrs Boss Joe, for a wee dram or two. Their son Bertie was my dad’s pal, and apart from priests was the only one allowed behind the counter at the cafe. The cafe was in the parish of OHR, is it still an active parish? Slainte
