Green: Scottish football effectively is Rangers and Celtic

910

Charles Green told TalkSport, “Scottish football effectively is Rangers and Celtic. I mean, there are many other clubs but everyone has to acknowledge that that’s a fact.”

No, no, no, no.  No.  This is not a fact, it is not even a credible opinion.  Instead it is deeply insulting to dozens of teams who conduct their business properly year after year. I have to ask, does he want this project to fail? He is effectively saying – Vote for this plan, you are irrelevant, we are all that matters and this suits our purposes.

It was this erroneous attitude which led to predictions of Armageddon this season.  Instead, the long-suffering clubs who have paid their bills, while others put money which should have gone to the tax man towards buying fooballers, are enjoying a rebirth.

Green added, “Scottish football needs Rangers back at the top and Rangers being a vital part of European football. That’s where we’re trying to get them.”

This is a great season for the SPL.  Financially responsible Hibs, who lost the Scottish Cup final to irresponsible Hearts, are top.  Celtic, with their manageable, low, debt, have just beaten Barcelona in the Champions League.  Aberdeen have their best team in years.  Attendances are up for most clubs.

Before adding, “The Old Firm is the world’s biggest derby.  That’s what world football wants, what broadcasters and sponsors wants, to see those games again.  God willing we’ll see that in the years ahead.”

“The Old Firm” is not the world’s biggest derby, it’s not even Glasgow’s biggest derby.  It doesn’t exist anymore.  As for it being “what world football wants”!  Oh dear.  World football has better things to concern itself with, and don’t bring God into it!

The authenticity of the “Rangers Football Club plc” slideshow presentation which appeared last night is not confirmed, but I hope it’s genuine. It is, literally, fantastic. Notions contained therein that provide for “colts” teams and league reconstruction which “could see Rangers progress faster through the domestic league structures” bring it into perfect alignment with the Scottish Football League plans, which earlier this week Charles Green revealed would be presented today.

I also loved the first point on the summary page, “Profitable business model using prudent assumptions”, despite no mention of future costs, or revenues, in the presentation. Nice that they have confirmed revaluations of property assets at £79m, a fraction of the value the assets were disposed for in the summer.

This will not end well.

It appears Chuck has went from comparing his accounts to any bodies next year to now stating Sevco may have a loss of £3.5 Million.

It is ok Bares, he is going to increase season tickets 20% every season to make up for it.

Charles Green has announced revolutionary plans to Sevco’s accounts as he prepares for a public share issue intended to raise £20m.

In an incredible double whammy the Yorkshireman intends to raise season ticket prices by 20% year on year while bringing in a wage cap that will see player wages accounting for no more than 33% of the clubs turnover.

Green announced his intention for the share issue on October 12 but more than a month later there is no sign of a prospectus emerging to substantiate the wild claims that he has been making during his six months at Ibrox.

Reports of a new kit deal with adidas and commercial links to the Dallas Cowboys have yet to be backed up by hard evidence while other claims such as having three billioaire investors in the pipeline or renaming Murray Park appear to have slipped off the radar.

Despite claims to have £21m of pledges from supporters for the share issue Green has been hosting a roadshow in Edinburgh and London for potential investors with the latest claims made in an interview with his preferred broadcaster, STV.

Notes from broker Cenkos Securities, seen by STV ahead of the stock market flotation reveal the season ticket prices would return to similar levels as last season.

Cenkos’s projections state that although the company will run at a £3.5m operating loss in 2013, it could bring in an operating profit of £10.9m in 2015. Rangers chief executive Charles Green has endorsed the pre-initial public offering notes made by the brokers.

Speaking to STV about the figures Green said: “When you look at Rangers where it sits today, to have a valuation of around £30m, there’s no reason why within a couple of years we haven’t doubled that valuation at least.”

Green bought those assets from Duff and Phelps for £5.5m.

Backing up the claims STV brought in favoured financial ‘expert’ Neil Patey who confidently predicted last season that Rangers wouldn’t be liquidated.

Patey said: “I think it’s realistic to say Rangers could be a comparable value to Celtic in two or three years’ time when they’re back in the SPL.”

It appears that Patey is in the dark about calibre of directors around the boardroom at Celtic, both executive and non-executive, and the level of investment required to secure contracts with companies such as Nike and the work required to produce a scouting system that can unearth half a dozen players currently rated in the £8-10m bracket.

According to the Cenkos document Sevco ‘ will run at a £3.5m operating loss in 2013, it could bring in an operating profit of £10.9m in 2015.’

  6. Good morning all from the blazing hot baga beach in Goa…. So glad im flying home later tonight for some cold wet weather :(

Any news on hooper lassad and browns injuries ?????

  7. Just dropped in to ask….

Whilst a concerning amount of Celt’s on here – while away the hours counting all of Sevco’s money or otherwise….what happens to all the money that Celtic FC have raised over the recent period ?

    By my reckoning…..

    £20 mill – SB’s

    £20 mill – Champions league

    £6 mill – Ki

£5 mill – Wiped off the wage bill

You see…the thing that bugs me is…how much of the above reappears on the pitch ?

Surely the above query should be more of a – burning issue than to become so consumed by the orcs ?

I’ll be back later to see if anyone not of an apathetic state of mind can be bothered to give an answer. If they don’t…then that might explain why the tumbleweed(apart from the Magnificent GB) is starting to appear in the shape of thousands, growing by the game, empty seats.

Any news on hooper lassad and browns injuries ?????

    …………………….

You missed out the Tony Watt injury which was allowed to take place under the nose of Ian Brines who had a very relaxed view of St Johnstone’s hackers.

They obviously knew this before they started.

  9. StPatricksBhoy – I’ve had half a dozen MRIs over the years. The problem for me was always the scan never coincided with the flare up i.e. you go to the doctor doubled up in pain, he says get an MRI, the appointment is weeks later and voila – the pain and inflammation has gone and there is little to be seen.

Then, a couple of years ago, I managed to get the scan done while I could barely move and three bulging discs showed up in all their glory. Gave me some sort of comfort to know I hadn’t been imagining it for all these years.

Unfortunately I have strived for quick fixes and failed to address the problem of muscle imbalance which is what causes the majoirty of lower back pain – because it takes a lot of time and effort to do so e.g. with a proper diagnosis of what muscles are causing the problem and then an individually-tailored exercise programme (pilates, yoga, stretching etc.) to solve it. Imbalanced muscles mean the pelvis and spine get pulled out of alignment causing uneven wear and tear followed by herniated discs :(

Chiropractors, for example, can help move the bones and joints back into place but within a short period of time the muscles that caused the imbalance in the first place will do so again. I work with cyclists and most of the problems they have with lower back problems come from the pelvis being misaligned/tilted due to muscle imbalance.

PL pockets it…why ask the question when you know the answer.

£6 million lost wasnt enough for some people cant we spend more ??

  12. Green’s got one huge problem – investors want a return for their money especially in a rcession. What is attractive about The Rangers now?

  13. If I invest my income correctly next year, I could pay off my mortgage by Easter.

Mind you, I have said the same every year for the past 20 years and I still have a mortgage.

IF I knew next weeks Lottery numbers, I could be rolling in lolly.

IF I could actually play football like I do in my dreams, I’d be a Celtic legend.

IF HMRC had accepted the CVA, RFCia would not have become RFCil (well, not yet at least).

Just about anything is possible using the IF word.

  14. Does anyone know when SevcoFC are eligible to play in Europe if they qualify to do so?

I thought it was 3 years after producing a set of audited accounts, which, by my reckoning, would make if 2016-17 season, if they are produced for June1st next year.

Ankle knock which forced him to withdraw from the Scotland U 21 Squad.

He got it with almost his first touch of the ball. St Johnstone players got away with murder and this was probably why Brines didn’t give them a penalty when Ambrose went through one of theirs. He had set the tone of the Scottish game employed by most who play us.

My understanding is that the criteria is to have 3 years’ worth of audited accounts. Not sure when the current company started but assuming that their first year ends on say 31 May 2013, the 3rd would then end in May 2015 allowing them to compete (if they finish high enough up the league table!) in season 2015-16? So no European football this season or the next 2 at least.

    I think.
