Greenock, Argyle St and what Celtic Movement is all about

949

We are only two days away from the 9 in a row CQN Open, which again takes place at Aberdour Golf Club in Fife.  This year our guest of honour is Lisbon Lion, Willie Wallace.  We have already raised over £2000 from a shirt auction and raffle (thank you very much to all who participated) but we have a quick opportunity for you to win a signed Celtic strip in a raffle, ending on Saturday.

Tickets cost £1, if you can afford £1, get involved here.  Proceeds go towards 1254125, which is a crucial part of orientating the Celtic Movement in the direction of our founding fathers.

Willie Wallace will be at the Celtic Store, Argyle St, for late night shopping, from 5.30-7.30 pm tomorrow (Thursday) night.  Where you can buy a signed copy of his book and have a chat with the man himself.  Bring a camera.

Immediately after leaving the Celtic Store tomorrow Willie and Brogan Rogan (and a pile of books) are heading to the Greenock Celtic Supporters’ Club for a CQN Question and Answer evening.  Entry costs £2 (all of which is going to our charity causes).  DON’T FORGET YOUR CAMERA!!

I know many of you have read Brogan Rogan but if you’ve not seen him and Willie Wallace in action, get along tomorrow, it will be another classic Celtic night.  Tickets are available at the door.

Thanks to everyone who helped organise all of these events, more on that later.

He has already been released by hearts. Don’t think he is that good to be honest.

  2. Wgs.

His disciplinary record in a hearts jersey is shocking.

Imagine him in the broken hoops?

  3. WGS

He is out of contract and coming back from injury. I don’t rate the guy but I suspect Aberdeen may take a look. They are brining rakes of players in and seem to be linked with loads of players. Milne has spotted that 2nd place is up for grabs and that a cup is more than achievable. If they start winning more games and fill the ground they have great income too. I for one would be delighted to have a strong Aberdeen back challenging for honours. They add a good support to the SPL and also hate the zombies.

i reckon Zaliukas would break the league record for suspensions in a Hoops shirt …no thanks …i prefer paying players who are available to play

  6. Estadio Nacional on

Theres no hertz players good enough for the Celtic squad, you could argue theres no SPL players that could improve the Celtic team, cant think of any.

  7. A small pebble starts tumbling down the EPL mountain…

RTÉ Sport has confirmed that it will no longer

have the rights to television coverage of the

    Premier League.

As a result, the season just ended marks the

end of RTÉ’s Premier Soccer Saturday &

    Sunday programmes.

A statement from RTÉ Sport said: “In a period

of significant financial pressure RTÉ Sport,

along with all other areas of the organisation,

has been required to deliver significant

    production and personnel efficiencies.

“As part of an organisation-wide cost cutting

initiative RTÉ’s Director General has publicly

stated that the cost of sports rights must be

reduced by 25% from 2011 levels by 2015.

“Many efficiencies have already been delivered

    while continuing to deliver quality

    programming with significantly less resources.

However, it has not been possible to manage

the financial deficit without an impact on

    output.”

RTÉ’s Group Head of Sport Ryle Nugent said

that national teams and games will remain

    the priority of the broadcaster.

He said: “This is a hard choice to make. The

relationship with the Premier League has

provided us with programming that has been

the backbone of our output for many years

and there is a real affinity with the output.

“However, RTÉ TV Sport has had to adjust its

commitments in line with every other area of

    the organisation.

“My strategy has been, and will continue to be,

the protection of our national teams and

national games programming such as GAA,

Horse Racing, the Airtricity League and so on.

Hearts have a few youngsters that Celtic may be interested in but I doubt we will sign any. Why bother?

Hearts are due their players wages this week and from the statement today I doubt they will be paid. Their players will be free agents before the month is out.

The club is going down the swanny.

  11. Snake Plissken on

Had wee Driver been the player he was a few years back and had he still been at the Jambos I’d have taken him. I thought he was a good player but of their current squad the boy Walker has some potential and the rest are all guff.

No doubt they’ll all be Sevcovians before long or if they’re smart they’ll be off to lower league teams in England or some SPL sides.

Thon Hamill and Grainger are tailor made for Sevco.

  12. I think Celtic if the sell Hooper and few other players plus CL cash might suprise us all with a signing up there with the Bellamy, Keane, Juninho signings.

  13. Snake Plissken

You can add the tattoo clad maniac Stevenson to that list for Sevco.

  14. Genoa, Sampdoria, Parma, and Torino are worth a plunder in the market IMO.

    Some tidy players in Italy.

  15. I don’t want Celtic to cherry pick the cream of young Scottish players from other clubs, let them develop their own players at Dun Utd Aberdeen and Hibs. We have our own academy and let us bring our youngsters through and let’s get Scottish football back up to a decent level now that the orcs are no longer dragging it down to clugger level.

Scotland always produced world class player, whit ever happened to that!!

  16. !!Bada Bing!! on

Would be good to take a couple of Hearts kids just to wind them up though………

  17. WGS

We didn’t win much with those Blue Chip signings mentioned!

I would prefer to get a player young and eager to win trophies than the retirement fund mob we have had in the past.

David Murray and Souness happened to that.

I put the decline of Scottish football squarely on their and the Cardigan’s shoulders.

Don’t forget that the best Hearts team in a generation were systematically dismantled by them in 1998.

That was long before Mad Vlad.

Ol’ Doc Brattbakk once again makes a telling point… because of the mathematical formula used to measure ‘IQ’, the theoretical maximum adult score is 200.

I don’t have the intelligence to figure out what this means though.

  23. Danny Wilson, who was waiting to see if he could sign for the Hertz, is on a free after being released by Liverpool. Think he could be a good signing on a free.

Other than him it’s pretty much players that Sevco will take I think. Hopefully not Sutton though as I think his big brother would kill him.
