Daizen Maeda is also entitled to take time to consider his future. He has two years left on a Celtic contract and an offer before him which is significantly better than the one Greg has from Celtic. The Japanese and Korean contingent at Celtic has been getting smaller in recent times, Daizen’s ties here are sparce. All we can offer is hard cash (before 48% tax – it’s always an issue for footballers) and the prospect of Champions League glory nights.
It would be an enormous boost if he signed a new deal, and for some of us, a surprise.

Maeda is verging on impossible to replace. There is no one else like him, certainly no other wingers that can press, track back, defend and score goals like he does. Or that can play on either wing or through the middle. He is the Swiss Army Knife of footballers.
