There was some disappointment for Matt O’Riley when he was excluded from the Denmark squad for the Euros. Not here, though. Matt’s reputation needs no enhancement by his national team. He will also benefit from a clear summer and normal preseason.
James Forrest should have plenty in the tank after a season low on appearances and will again play a partial role for Celtic next season. After his inclusion in a friendly for Scotland last night, I hope he makes the final squad list.
Callum McGregor and Greg Taylor remain our biggest concern over the summer. They always play for Celtic when available and would ideally be on a beach somewhere right now. Scotland has two left backs ahead of Greg, so his final inclusion is not certain. I am sure he would like to be involved, but it would be better for him next season if he dropped out now, rather than continued in training for the next month, without actually playing.

I have noticed that Greg has done a bit of thinking on the height thing.When keepers are playing long balls out in his direction,he gets close,real close to his opponent to impede his jump.Same with throw ins.Crosses,we should have had that sorted.Our big guys never too clever there.Danny Carvahal,just one of many small defenders.On the physicality thing,you would’nt welcome a right hook from the wee man.

Scotland not exactly awash with top class forwards and lose Dykes and Doak, in the last few days. Very unlucky. I think all four of our boys will go, though I thought it was crazy picking a squad that had to lose two.

Paulo Bernardo on a permanent contract for the money mentioned is a no brainer for Celtic, and should be our first summer signing. Next up is the goalkeeping situation where moves should be at an advanced stage, given Joe Hart was in his retirement season.
Ben Siegrist has never been in the frame never mind the first team and should be moved on. Scott Bain has also been a ‘back up’ keeper too long and his rare start at Easter Rd under Ange, didn’t inspire confidence, so two new keepers required IMO.
If there’s one position you don’t do projects it’s goalkeeper, and BR with his recruitment team have to get it right which will mean spending the Vassilas Barkas money again, only on the right man. That should be easy what’s difficult is finding a keeper that is nearly flawless enough to play for Celtic, we should at least be at short list stage, as the summer window prepares to slam open.
