John Collins in as manager. imo

This is us going into the 4th season of Neil and possession football

will not be the forte I’m afraid :(

Its not “dressed up” as anything of the sort. The OSB i an opportunity for those who wish to do so and can afford to do so to support the club AND fellow supporters in a way that suits their circumstances and their pockets.

It fits the Celtic ethos as many see it like a glove.

In value for money terms it is a steal compared to what traditional SB purchasers pay.

  4. Niallo83. 5million spent already 1m to his old club. Neil might see another 2m

PL Kpi ‘s are the only ones that are targeted. Ie zero debt. All other things are incidental. If we don’t get into CL rest of Vic’s cash Is insurance policy for Pete’s bonus

I want us to play effective football which is about making good decisions on when to hold and when to risk.

Footballers make those decisions on the field of play in every game. Coaches set the environment but if a player cannot make a 3 yard pass or ping a ball cross field no amount of coaching can make them.

My point is not so much about retaining possesion, it is about it becoming a mantra that stifles risk taking by discouraging creativity.

I thought the German lads just looked so much more comfortable on the ball and swept it about confidently but that might be the result of great national coaching standards and of course a huge population to draw on. The first we can try and emulate the second is a natural disadvantage.

  9. SydneyTim,

As I said the half year profit was £14.92m. Lets say by the end of the season that had gone down to £10m. We spent £4m on the new signings (Van Diyk and Balde). That leaves roughly £6m in the bank.

If we sell Wanyama for £12.5m that would put £18.5m in the bank. Surely Lennon would get more than £2m of that to spend??

Even if he only gets £5-6m that would still leave the bank balance at circa £12m.

    Wanyama ..

Made an occasional appearance in the players rumored to be of interest to Inter guff.

Usually mentioned as an alternative to a preferred target . Last example was Wanyama to Inter if Inter don’t get Basilea’s Dragovic . Dragovic is still at Basilea.

First..I am Against Overseas Supporters having ST that are Not Used on a Weekly Basis..

My Point was..l pay 19.99 GBP a Month for Celtic TV..so say 240 GBP A Year..

Why even Offer me a Overseas Season Book..? for 250 GBP..????

Gain 10 GBP and Lose a Possible Home supporter..Every Home game..If l buy a Celtic top they will get the Same Monies and Not have the Mass empty seats we have seen this Year..

The Model l am for is Overseas SB’s are held by Overseas Supporter Clubs as Our club once had ie..2 per Club..Shared by Club members..

Aulheid l know You are doing a great job with Supporters groups Etc ..

  13. Snake Plissken on

Having calmed down now but only barely after that debacle last night I’ve come to the following conclusions –

    1. If Vic, Joe and Broonie are not in the midfield there is very little else in there. Rogic and Kayal are not going to do it. Kayal is done. That animal McCulloch done for him and sadly that’s it. The boy is desperate to prove himself as some kind of hard man but he simply cannot do it. He IS a headless chicken. His passing is poor, he tries to pick fights he cannot win and he has been a let down for a long time since the day at Rugby park where he lost the plot. Sorry Beram but you’re just not going to make it any more. You can bet your boots he’d have been off like a shot if a bigger club than Bolton had come in for him as well.

Rogic is such a disappointment for me. I had such high hopes for him. He gets to Christmas for me and then I’ll make a final judgement but if he cannot do it in Scotland at the least then it’s very sad. It brings into question the wisdom of signing him when Twardzik plays in the same position and we’ve invested a good few years on him.

    2. If Forrest isn’t in the team there’s not enough width. McGeoch is another one I think isn’t going to cut it. I hope to be proved wrong but I just don’t see it. There is a player in there but he is not consistent as yet.

    3. We have a defense that needs cohesion. Far too often this defense goes from being rock solid to total strangers – this isn’t a new thing and has been a feature of Neil Lennon’s time in charge. Virgil looks like he can pass the ball and that’s good but looks ponderous – is he going to turn out to be the Dutch Gary Caldwell? I really really hope not.

    4. Where does Charlie Mulgrew fit into this team if he’s got to play every week?

    5. Amido Balde doesn’t look all that hot and I’ve had flashbacks of MAF in terms of the guy’s build and style. He doesn’t look a 30 goals a season man.

    6. This is a team in need of quality replacements – behind our first 11 there appears to be little quality. This Celtic team raised significant funds for the club and the apparent imminent sale of Wanyama and possibly Hooper could see Celtic financially secure for a very long time but Neil Lennon NEEDS a 30 goal a season striker, a creative midfielder, two holding midfielders, an additional centre half and a good back up keeper.

No one is saying spend a fortune but after bringing in that level of cash some decent level of investment should be made while we’re strong domestically to make sure we get CL football for the next few years to build on last year’s success.

For me there’s been a bit of resting on the laurels and that’s never a good thing.

Next week is the biggest game of our season already and we look all over the place with an injury list to match. This does not look good.

Some people are saying it’s only Cliftonville, well they’re Champions of their country, it is the biggest game of their lives and they are a home first because as far as I can see Celtic wanted to give this wee team a TV cheque – are we really in a position to take this for granted?

Ok we’ve have a return leg a week later at Celtic Park and should be able to get the job done but that is not the point. This should be a formality but it isn’t because our team paly too slowly, lack creativity and are about to lose our best Midfielder and posibly our main goal threat for coming games and in return we get Balde who looks nothing special, Van Dijk who has blown hot and cold and the guy who was injured for two years as investment/replacement.

This could have been a better start than this.

People are freaking out because having experienced last season in Europe we want it again and the signs we’ve seen so far against decent but no better European opposition are VERY VERY worrying.

You make a good point about the overseas ST but Im with Sos on this, give the OST holder rights to CL tickets or other big domestic games and I would be interested. Theres no legit way to get tickets for these games as OST holders would be deemed not to go to games.

  16. Niallo. U are forgetting that the profit virtually paid off our bank debt

We start off this season with zero debt. Then we spent 5m back into debt. The PL must sell vic to maintain his KPI. Does not leave much in reserve if we don’t qualify for CL

    Vic cash ensures the bonus

I don’t think our non-goal scoring goalscorers are the problem; I think the weaknesses are in midfield [in terms of back-up] and the ole tremblin’ mince in the Sieve.

  18. I don’t think after last night it is time to panic but it is right to be concerned. Whether it is a training match or a friendly you expect players to have a will to win and shipping 6 goals is worrying to say the least.

I thought last night would be our first pre-season win. Looking at the calibre of side we were playing I saw no problems. I was wrong. It was a pumpfest. Very poor from Celtic. I don;t believe in friendlies myself so every defeat hurts me but one like that had me raging last night. I have cooled down a bit but I would like to see a tighter game before we play Cliftonville. Winning is a habit and we are out of that habit right now.

If Victor is to leave for £12.5m then good luck to the Bhoy. He gave us two good years and a healthy profit. Neil Lennon needs to invest on British/Irish players who have experience. If we want another decent European run we need some experience to help the kids along. Brown and Ledley must have their own bed in the treatment room. IF we get the signings we need and these two Bhoys stay fit it will be a great season. IF we don’t then I can see a number of players ready to join the queue for the exit door before the window shuts in September. It’s over to the club to get things in place.

    Resolutions for Celtic’s 2013 AGM

Published on Wednesday 10th July, 2013 by Celtic Trust

    Calling all shareholders

Yes, fellow Tims, it is that time of year again. In fact, it is considerably later in the year than we normally make this call. We have been extremely busy with FAC business this year and this, as well as some new developments which have affected the format of the resolutions for this year, means that we are quite late in getting our resolution requisition forms out for signing.

As some of you will know, in order to get a resolution on to the Celtic PLC AGM Agenda, it is necessary to get our resolutions and supporting statements signed by 100 holders of ordinary shares. There are some other requirements in terms of the size of the shareholding but we generally meet this without any difficulty.

The resolutions this year take the usual format. There is one which is usually thought of as the Fan on the Board resolution but which has been a bit broader than this for some years now. This year we have specifically taken on board the fact that Celtic, only very recently, have appointed a Supporters Liaison Officer, as they are required to do under the UEFA licensing regulations. The resolution this year seeks to find a mechanism, involving the SLO, to improve two-way communications between the fans and the Board to maximise the welfare of everyone involved. There are many examples of failures to communicate properly with fans by an otherwise well-run Board which could so easily have been avoided if mechanisms had been in place to discuss issues with fan representatives before decisions were made. The recent seat relocation issue is a good example of something which could have been handled very much better and prior consultation with fans’ representatives would have flagged that up.

The second resolution is related to the fact that this year we are celebrating our 125th Anniversary with a greater emphasis on our charitable roots and practice. For a number of years now many large, private sector employers in England and many large public sector employers in Scotland have adopted a Living Wage policy. The Living Wage is calculated in such a way as to take people who are in work out of poverty. The in-work poor are now over 50% of those in poverty in Scotland and finding work is no longer the automatic route out of poverty which it used to be. We at the Trust believe that a Club which is founded in charity should not be paying any of its employees less than the Living Wage, which currently stands at £7.45 per hour and this resolution seeks to enshrine this in policy.

Both resolutions can be downloaded here Resolution 1 and here Resolution 2 and we would very grateful if you would consider downloading these and signing them and returning them to us at

The Celtic Trust, PO Box 2066, Glasgow G32 2AX

If it is more convenient, and you have access to a scanner, then you could download the forms, fill them in and sign them and then email them back to us at celtictrust@hotmail.com

    Remember the following:

You must include your full name and address

If you have changed address since you bought the shares and you haven’t registered this with Computershare (The Registrars) then please include both addresses

You do not need your share certificate or number and you don’t need to know how many shares you have

You don’t need to be a member of the Celtic Trust

It takes a lot of work to ensure that supporters have a meaningful contribution to the PLC AGM so please take this small step and sign the resolution requisition forms so that these issues will at least be debated. Hail Hail

  21. Summa

The differential last season was £60 and it has been reduced to £10 because of the overall price reduction.

But that is to miss the key point. The seat it buys is not a seat denied to anyone else or income denied to Celtic. It is additional imcome, even at a tenner.

It is a seat that would not be used at all and through the Celtic Foundation that seat is given to someone who would not attend a game for reasons of affordability.

I could easily have settled for the Celtic TV subscription but was able to afford the difference to put someone on the seat that I would not have been able to use and could not fill myself because the facility to do so simply did not exist. It does now.

Now (and to bring in Estadios point) the key thing here is that Celtic were able to pick up and run with the proposal because of the fit to the ethos and the key thing is they are listening to proposals of the type where everyone is a winner.

So (and I think there is potential to considerably widen what the OSB offers) either contact Celtic direct with your suggestions as to what you are looking for to make it more attractive to you or send them to me via Paul’s e mail and I’ll pass them on.

Its a question of not participating because it does not meet a supporters specific needs or articulating what those are so that they might be met.

What I’ll say is this and it is a personal view. Too much at Celtic has fallen on the shoulders of too few to make certain things happen.

That is now changing with the addition of the Supporter Liaison and Service man and internal reorganising. The capacity to explore and act on issues is improving, so rather than having a go at what is missing why not test the new waters to see if what is missing can be added to because it makes sense on a number of grounds to do so?

  22. Sidney Tim

Assuming that you can afford it and you can get a decent picture I take it you will not be buying an OSB or subscribing to Celtic TV because you do not want to subscribe to PL’s KPI?

If you are doing either then good man for not making it an excuse not to do what most supporters, even with KPI reservations, do season in season out.

  23. Auldheid – the lack of athleticism in our midfield was staggering. I found myself looking at their senegalese striker thinking ‘could he do a job for us?’ a wee bit of research revealed he is a total journeyman – but the fact that he had a bit of size, good strength, and reasonable pace – made him look a worldbeater against our centre backs (second half).

  24. .

    Aulheid..

My main point was l want Bums on Seats..That is why l brought up the OSB..

I Don’t have Any Proposals that is Why l was going to bring it up on the Nightshirt..ie Overseas Supporters..

I am only relaying My Personal point of View..If this Was Offered 20 Years ago when l lived in Holland and could afford to fly home fortnightly it would be Awesome..

Celtic TV every Game (Because I’m out with UK AND A Seat for every home game)..

I would Like to See Celtic Supporters in the UK..that Live outside Glasgow (Say 200 Miles) or cant travel to glasgow to be able to Access Celtic TV for live Games..

You are Right You cannot please everyone and at Least Celtic FC are trying..But my Original point was to pay a Extra 10 GBP for a Nameplate ..Seat..Etc for the Extra 10GBP i would rather Celtic sold the Seat to a Youngster or Tourist for One game..

We qualified for last 16 of Champions League after selling one of our prize assets to a Russian mob for a substantial sum and there is a probability we may do it again after selling someone else for a substantial sum.

Some on here went into over drive regarding hyping up Wanyama and had him sold this season to a top 4 Club in the EPL or even Barca or Madrid. I really don’t think that your Man U Man City Chelsea Arsenal Barcas or Madrids had Wanyama on their radar and if they did do you really think that they are going to by pass the opportunity to pick him up just now instead of having to spend substantially more in the future to sign him from a mid table EPL club at best
