GRIFF HEADS FOR EXIT

LEIGH GRIFFITHS could end his seven-and-a-half year association with Celtic within the next three days.

The 31-year-old striker has yet to figure in a competitive game for Ange Postecoglou and is wanted by former Livingston and Hibs team-mate James McPake at Dundee, according to Sky Sports News.

The Dens Park club have made a loan bid for the former Scotland international frontman whose career in Glasgow has faltered in the past three years for various reasons which have seen him net only 25 goals over the period.

Postecoglou activated a 12-month extension on Griffiths’ contract in June, but due to non-football related matters the forward was pulled out of the pre-season squad in Wales and has only made a cameo appearance at Parkhead against Preston last month where he received a mixed reception from the fans.

The once-prolific marksman made 47 appearances for the Dens Park club during a two-year loan spell from Wolves between 2009 and 2011 while claiming 21 goals.

He has also been linked with his boyhood favourites Hibs and Aberdeen although Pittodrie boss Stephen Glass distanced himself from any possible move which would have seen a reunion with former Celtic skipper Scott Brown and his close friend.

One thing does look certain – Griffiths’ time as a Celtic player looks to be at an end.
