GRIFF IN DEMAND

LEIGH GRIFFITHS is on the brink of agreeing a short-term deal at Championship outfit Falkirk.

The former Celtic striker, who scored 123 goals in his eight-year career at Parkhead, is a free agent after the Hoops paid up the remaining six months of his contract.

And Griffiths, who had spent the first half of the season on loan at Dundee, knocked back terms at the Tayside club to search for a new club until the end of the campaign.

The 31-year-old ex-Scotland international hitman, who netted only three goals in 17 appearances for the relegation-threatened Dens Park men, is now on the verge of settling his immediate future with a move to Championship-chasing Falkirk, according to a report in Sky Sports News.

Manager Martin Rennie is hoping to persuade the former Livingston, Wolves and Hibs attacker to sign on for the next four months to help with the push towards the second tier.
