LEIGH GRIFFITHS’ seven-and-a-half year Celtic career appears to have come to an end.

There has been no official announcement about the future of the 30-year-old striker whose contract expires tomorrow, but it looks as though he is heading for the exit.

Griffiths will be a free agent tomorrow unless the Hoops activate the 12-month extension in his terms – and time is clearly running out.

The frontman, who claimed a meagre seven goals last season and did not play a full game in a disappointing campaign, seems to have dropped a hint about his immediate future after wiping all mention of the club from his social media.

He also posted a video of himself training in Scotland gear rather than that of his club.

Griffiths made only eight starts from 26 appearances last term and has been in limbo since the end of the season.

He has been linked with a return to his boyhood heroes Hibs where he has had two successful loan spells from Wolves in the past.

Neil Lennon paid £1.2million to the Midlands outfit for the once-prolific hitman in January 2014, but the former manager and his player have had a very public spat in recent weeks over events from the Hoops’ first trophyless campaign in 11 years.

The forward’s lack of game time at the Parkhead side led to him missing out on a place in Steve Clarke’s squad for the Euros where the Scots were dumped after defeats at Hampden against Czech Republic and Croatia and a draw against England at Wembley. Griffiths’ team-mate Callum McGregor netted the nation’s only goal in the 3-1 loss against the Croatians.

Griffiths now appears to have wiped all mention of Celtic from his Twitter and Instagram profiles, according to a report in the Daily Record.

He no longer follows the club on Twitter and posted a video on Instagram of him training along in a gym, while the rest of his team-mates, excluding those excused duty after the internationals, were involved at Lennoxtown as new boss Ange Postecoglou put them through their paces.
