GRIFF v AJETI POSER

1

NEIL LENNON is faced with a dilemma to find a partner to play alongside Odsonne Edouard against St Mirren in Paisley tonight.

The Celtic boss paired the French and Swiss aces in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park last week and received an instant reward.

Edouard netted twice and Ajeti hit his sixth goal for the Hoops in the well-merited triumph and it was no surprise when the same double-act got the nod to face Motherwell at Parkhead on Saturday.

The £5million summer arrival from West Ham struggled to make the same impact and, following an anonymous first-half against the Fir Parkers, he missed two reasonable chances after the interval before being replaced by Leigh Griffiths in the 69th minute.

Now the Hoops gaffer has to ponder starting with the Scotland international or taking a gamble on Ajeti and hoping he displays some of his verve and vigour on display in the victory in Ayrshire last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, midfielder Ismaila Soro will be assessed before the Paisley confrontation after being involved in a car crash at the start of the week, The Ivorian anchorman was unhurt and will be in the squad to face the Saints who last month registered their first league victory in the east end of Glasgow in 31 years.

Centre-back Shane Duffy has recovered from illness, but Lennon will go again with the pairing of Stephen Welsh and Kristoffer Ajer. Ryan Christie will be available for selection after overcoming his ankle injury. He is likely to start on the substitutes’ bench.
