GRIFFITHS’ GOAL REGRET

LEIGH GRIFFITHS has taken over from John Guidetti as Celtic’s top scorer after his quickfire treble in the 4-1 win midweek mauling of Kilmarnock.
The hitman struck his goals in a whirlwind 19-minute period to equal the total the Swede has claimed in the last FOUR-AND-A-HALF MONTHS!
Griffiths has now bagged 15 goals – one more than Guidetti – and insisted he would be top of the Scottish charts, currently headed by Adam Rooney on 26, if he had made as many appearances as the Aberdeen star.
Ironically Rooney could have been a Celtic player BEFORE Griffiths as the previous management team seriously considered making a move for the player when he was at Inverness.
He said: “I have no doubt that, if I had played the same amount of games as Adam Rooney, I would be up there as top goalscorer.

“Everybody knows what I can do. I am a goalscorer.

“But I have had to bide my time, and, thankfully, I am seeing the rewards now.

“We have got players all over the park who can score goals, so everyone has to be wary of us.

“But I’m just glad that last night I was able to come on and do my job, which is put the ball in the net.”

Griffiths was sent on immediately against the Rugby Park side after Kris Commons had made it 1-1 in the 61st minute.

He added: “It was a minor blip for us in the 1-1 draw at the weekend. Inverness is a tough place to go. Everybody knows that.

“But we are back on track now, as last night showed.

“And, hopefully, come Sunday when we play Caley Thistle in the Scottish Cup semi-final, we will be raring to go again.”

However there seems little truth in the rumor that Ronny Deila has offered Leigh Griffiths a packet of these if he bags another hat-trick on Sunday.Unknown-1
