GRIFFITHS PRAISES SKIPPER BROWN

LEIGH GRIFFITHS hailed skipper Scott Brown for his role in the 4-0 Scottish Cup demolition of Dundee United at Parkhead.
The in-form striker netted the all-important second goal after a magnificent pass from the midfield dynamo. Brown, coming in from the right, sent a perfect ball into the tracks of Griffiths who volleyed his effort beyond the exposed Radoslaw Cierzniak.
And the Hoops hitman revealed that the captain was one of the first to congratulate on him on his strike. He said: “He came running over and he said: ‘I bet you didn’t expect that.’ And, to be honest, I didn’t!
“It was a great pass and I just had to compose myself in front of goal and I managed to do that.

“Broonie’s a big-game player and has been outstanding the whole season and that’s why he’s captain for club and country. I fully expect him to continue that to the end of the campaign.

“He drives everyone on. He’s a big character in the dressing room and he keeps the lads going, but on matchdays he’s focused and wants the team to win well.”
