GRIFFITHS SEES SPECIALIST

LEIGH GRIFFITHS has consulted a specialist as he attempts to recover from his persistent calf injury.

The Celtic striker limped off after scoring the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win over Hibs on January 27 and remains some way off match fitness.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers spoke of his and Griffith’ frustration about the recurrence of the problem.

He said: “Leigh was seeing a specialist over his calves the other week, but even when he gets back he needs to get fit.

“It could be an extended period, really.”

Griffiths has been hampered by the injury for the past two seasons and the Scotland international has been restricted to only 19 starts in this campaign.

He has come off the substitutes’ bench on 13 occasions and netted 12 goals, five fewer than top scorer Scott Sinclair.
