GROUNDS FOR CONCERN

CELTIC will face Zenit St Petersburg in the last 32 of the Europa League on February 22 at a stadium that will be partially closed.

UEFA ordered the Russian giants to shut down a section of the ground as a punishment for displaying a banner praising Bosnian Serb military leader Ratko Mladic.

The European bosses also fined the club just under £9,000 after it had been flaunted during a match against FK Vardar at the Krestovsky Stadium.

They were found guilty of “racist behaviour” under Article 14 of UEFA’s disciplinary regulations and instructed to “close the entire sector where the discriminatory banner was displayed” during their next European match, which will be against Brendan Rodgers’s side.

Zenit fans have a controversial history and there have been several incidents of racist chanting towards black players – including some in their own team.
