The testimony of Gary Allan, QC, to Channel 4’s Alex Thomson, on the threats and intimidation he received after sitting on the SFA tribunal which imposed a 12 month player registration ban for various financial misdemeanours while the club was in administration, is stark.
The details of what Mr Allan went through is available on the Channel 4 website, it is so gruesome I’d rather not bring it here, but these are not the action of football fans. This is a criminal subculture which has attached itself to elements of the game. It would be an enormous mistake for anyone to pander to those elements, only chaos will result.
It is painfully evident the damage which can be caused by inflammatory comments but unfortunately I predict further incitement ahead. A great deal of wrong-doing went on in the Scottish game over a long number of years which subverted our competitions. This has now been disclosed and disciplinary processes are underway. It is too late to stop this process, nor should it be stopped.
Those who subverted the game are entitled to a fair hearing but the rest of Scottish football are entitled to demand processes are followed.
Gary Allan is a mere water carrier of the Rangers-group-of-clubs troubles. The architects are being protected, as best they can be, by their former lieutenants.
It’s been a good week for the broadcast elements of the mainstream media.

It is anguishing reading that brave family blog. It does bring hope to many others though to treat life itself well and there is no doubt in my mind that Oscar is proving to be more inspirational on a deeper level than any multiple Olympic Gold medal winner ever could.
He is worthy of being compared to Jock Stein and Jock would undoubtedly say the wee man was even more inspirational.
It was very distressing to hear how Gary Allan and his family were affected by the threats and intimidation from the hordes.
It was telling that he alluded to the general respect for the judiciary even among the most hardened criminals. The fact that it is only now he and his family have suffered following the tribunal’s decision is a clear indication of how extremely the scrofulous hillbillies will act if they do not get their own way.
It was also apparent that Gary Allan is, to put it mildly, intensely annoyed at McCoist for his role in the affair. I seem to recall some kind of half-hearted apology from the FPLG at the time which sounded like he did not intend the consequences of his actions but refused to apologise for what actually transpired. I have little doubt that Lord Nimmo Smith will be aware of the Alex Thomson revelations. If, as we all suppose, he takes a dim view of Oldco’s actings with registration of players, I expect his judgment will be like an arrow to the heart to every Sevconian.

Well, if the politicos really care about Scotland, they have to let Rangers wither away.
The three reasons people want to keep them, in one form or another, are money, darnelness and fear.
We’ll all just have to do without the tainted money. Some football budgets may be hit, but Dundee United, Ross County, Inverness, Dundee and Celtic are already showing that rumours of Armageddon were greatly exaggerated.

Rangers owner Charles Green has restated his commitment to the club, saying that he will stay with the team until they are back in Europe.
Green said: “I don’t exactly when it happened and if I may be course I was on the loo taking this big dump and thats when I realised this club has come to be something much more than a business opportunity.
“My intention was to come in to the club, get the funding in place, make sure Rangers’ fuiture was secured then leave.
“That was my job but now I consider it my lifetime vocation so I will be staying until I hear the Champions League anthem blaring out onece again across our Ibrox. That’s what the fans and the people here should be given and if that can be delivered maybe I’ll feel my life will be complete.”
Green, the former chief executive at Sheffield United, added that he is focussing on rebuilding the Ibrox side with European dominance in mind.
He said: “Playing in the Champions League is the pinnacle and with the correct structures in place there is every reason to believe Rangers can dominate that arena. We have plans to move this club forward and I know we, with the fans can make it great again.”
