Gruesome elements attached to the game

285

The testimony of Gary Allan, QC, to Channel 4’s Alex Thomson, on the threats and intimidation he received after sitting on the SFA tribunal which imposed a 12 month player registration ban for various financial misdemeanours while the club was in administration, is stark.

The details of what Mr Allan went through is available on the Channel 4 website, it is so gruesome I’d rather not bring it here, but these are not the action of football fans.  This is a criminal subculture which has attached itself to elements of the game.  It would be an enormous mistake for anyone to pander to those elements, only chaos will result.

It is painfully evident the damage which can be caused by inflammatory comments but unfortunately I predict further incitement ahead.  A great deal of wrong-doing went on in the Scottish game over a long number of years which subverted our competitions.  This has now been disclosed and disciplinary processes are underway.  It is too late to stop this process, nor should it be stopped.

Those who subverted the game are entitled to a fair hearing but the rest of Scottish football are entitled to demand processes are followed.

Gary Allan is a mere water carrier of the Rangers-group-of-clubs troubles.  The architects are being protected, as best they can be, by their former lieutenants.

It’s been a good week for the broadcast elements of the mainstream media.

  3. We can be proud of our History, we were always a Club open to all, No sectarianism, No racism, equality for all. Lenny is restating what we all knew, despite being villified & cheated for years we never stooped to their level.

It wasn’t the mass of trophies that was most important about Maley. It was his ethos. Willie Maley’s mantra was clear: “It’s not the creed nor his nationality that counts. It’s the man himself”. He engendered the moral framework around the club and how we were to work. There is no denying that we have swayed but that has been to our cost and we have always returned. We have always been a club that emphasises our support and culture, and Willie Maley has played a huge part in this. Any man who denies his importance, just needs to look to the Huns and the odious ethos that has underpinned their club since Struth imposed his disreputable values.

I was on holiday in Barra once and went into the pub at the pier to watch the old firm game. Celtic scored first and the place went ballistic. Unfortunately they equalised and one, yes one solitary voice cheered and jumped up. He appeared to be a local as everybody else were just quiet and ignored him. It was hilarious. No one give Hume any abuse or told him to shut up. As a tourist I just thought it was brilliant. Anyway the good news was Celtic went on to win 2-1

I would be astonished if Berlusconi goes to jail .

His trial for re having sex with a minor is on going . The girl in question being the Moroccan who was lifted for shoplifting but walked from the police station when Silvio personally phoned the polis and told them they had to release her in consequence of her being the grand daughter of the Egyptian President ————

Just a question. I was once informed that no one over 75 could be in prison in Italy. Is there such an age limit? is it 75?

If so, there may not be a need ‘to bring oranges for Silvio’.

  20. First time poster, just felt the need to put down my feelings regarding Wee Oscar. I have followed the situation closely over the past few months as I know a lot of others have.

It goes without saying how much of an inspiration the wee man and his family are but they are much more than that, the courage and bravery that they show shines through even in the darkest times.

They bring out the very best in people, not just in the Celtic Family but also in the wider community.

On a personal level they have changed my outlook on life to the extent that I dont worry about the crap that goes on but concentrate on the good things i.e family and friends.I can honestly say that knowing about the wee man and his family has made me a more grounded and less selfish person and for that I am grateful.

If ever a family deserved a break it is this family because they have given so much to other people without realising it,I hope and pray that they get that break soon.

I am sure that it will happen, we can all help through prayers to whichever God you believe in or if you have no God through thinking about them at this time.

God bless them and look after them.
