GUIDETTI AJAX LINK

RONNY DEILA insists contract talks with on-loan Manchester City striker John Guidetti are ongoing.

But reports from Holland indicate that Dutch giants Ajax may be planning to hi-jack the Swede in the summer.

They wanted to take Guidetti on a season-long loan before the start of the current campaign.

However, the 22-year-old frontman, who scored three goals against the Amsterdam outfit while on loan at deadly rivals Feyenoord in January 2012, knocked them back to move on a season-long temporary transfer at the Hoops.

The player will become a free agent in June and has stalled on agreeing a permanent contract with the SPFL champions.

Ajax believe that has opened the door for them to top any personal terms offered by Celtic.

Guidetti’s form has dipped in the midst of all the transfer speculation.

He quickly became a fans’ favourite in the east end of Glasgow when he netted 11 goals in a whirlwind 16-game spell, but he has found it difficult to get a regular place in Deila’s recent line-ups.

The marksman has started only one game – the 1-0 win over Ross County – in the last five and was on the subs’ bench again for the League Cup semi-final on Sunday although he came on for Leigh Griffiths in the 69th minute.

Guidetti hasn’t scored a goal since he netted in the 4-0 Scottish Cup win over Championship leaders Hearts at Tynecastle on November 30.

However, according to Dutch sources, his lack of goals isn’t likely to put off interest from Ajax boss Frank De Boer.
