GUIDETTI PERSUADED TO CELEBRATE BY LUSTIG
JOHN GUIDETTI looks to be edging closer to the Celtic exit when his loan deal expires in the summer.
Feyenoord have already admitted they will pursue him when he comes out of contract at Manchester City in June.
He became a favourite with the Hoops fans when he rattled in 11 goals in 16 games before the turn of the year.
However, the 22-year-old has scored only twice in 2015 and he was clearly frustrated at the end of the League Cup triumph over Dundee United after coming on as a second-half sub for Leigh Griffiths.
The surly Swede surprised boss Ronny Deila by racing past him in the dug-out at the final whistle and heading for the dressing room while his Hoops colleagues celebrated on the pitch.
Guidetti was upset James Forrest claimed the late penalty-kick and his mood didn’t get any better when his team-mate made a complete hash of his attempt.
International colleague Mikael Lustig, sidelined with injury, persuaded his compatriot to come back out and join in with the team’s celebrations. Had he not done so it would have been difficult for the Swede to continue in the Hoops with any hope of the Celtic support forgiving him his Hampden petted lip.
Speculation is rife in Holland that he has already agreed a summer switch to Feyenoord. In fact, the Rotterdam giants are planning on teaming up Guidetti with former Liverpool ace Dirk Kuyt as their new strike-force next season.
Ex-Ajax boss Co Adriaanse has gone gone on record as saying it would be a lethal partnership. The veteran coach said: “You place Kuyt on the right and play Guidetti in the middle for him.
“It would be an excellent piece of business for Feyenoord.”
