GUSTAF LAGERBIELKE is on the brink of quitting Celtic in a £2million move to SC Braga.
The Swedish defender has rarely figured since his arrival from Elfsborg in the summer of 2023.
Lagerbielke, who still has three years left on his Hoops contract, is expected to undergo a medical at the top-flight Portuguese club today before the switch gets the green light, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
FALSE START…Gustaf Lagerbielke sees red as he is dismissed in Celtic’s 2-0 Champions League loss against Feyenoord in Rotterdam two seasons ago.
The 25-year-old international centre-back is clearly not in Brendan Rodgers’ first-team plans and spent last season on loan at Twente Enschede.
The Eredivisie club opted against taking up the option to buy in the temporary transfer terms and the player was returned to Parkhead at the end of the campaign.
Lagerbielke’s time at the Glasgow giants has been less than memorable. An early injury and a dismissal against Feyenoord in the 2-0 opening-day Champions League loss two seasons ago marred his early days at the club.
He made 10 appearances and scored one goal – ironically the winner against the Rotterdam club in the return fixture at Parkhead as he took personal revenge for his earlier red card.
Now it appears Lagerbielke’s future lies in Portugal where, ironically, another Hoops centre-back misfit, Yuki Kobayashi, headed last summer when the Japanese joined Portimonense.
