FROZEN-OUT Celt Gustaf Lagerbielke is a wanted man as the transfer deadline approaches.
Dutch side Heerenveen and Belgian club KV Mechelen are keen on the Swedish defender who arrived at the Hoops last summer in a £3million switch from Elfsborg.
Lagerbielke knocked back the chance of a return to his homeland with Malmo offering a season-long loan deal, as CQN reported last week.
It’s clear there is no future for the two times-capped international stopper at Parkhead and the way is clear for the 24-year-old left-sided back-four operator to leave the champions on either a temporary or permanent basis.
NOW YOU SEE ME…Gustaf Lagerbielke in a rare first-team appearance in the 3-0 league win over St Mirren in Paisley in January.
The Eredivisie outfit look favourites to land Lagerbielke, but Heerenveen’s chief executive Ferry de Haan told the local media that it is “not a done deal yet”.
However, he added: “But we are hopeful that it will work out.”
Lagerbielke didn’t get the best of starts to his life in Scotland when he made his debut in the holders’ 1-0 League Cup exit against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in the third game of the season.
He followed that up with a red card in the 2-0 Champions League loss for Brendan Rodgers’ side against Feyenoord in Rotterdam the following month.
He is under contract until June 2028 and made just 10 appearances last term and scored one goal – ironically the winner against the team’s Dutch conquerors in the final encounter in Europe’s elite competition in December.
That is likely to remain the highlight of Lagerbielke’s Celtic career.
