HAALAND 2 HOGH 0

KASPER HOGH suffered an opening-day Nations League defeat when Denmark slumped 3-2 against an Erling Haaland-inspired Norway in Oslo last night.

The Celtic striker was sent on for former Manchester United hitman Rasmus Hojlund in the 82nd minute as the Danes attempted to salvage something from the game after a two-goal salvo from the prolific Manchester City dangerman.

Oscar Bobb opened the scoring for the hosts in the 14th minute and Haaland struck four minutes later with the visitors in disarray.

Mikkel Damsgaard pulled one back with a stunning 25-yard free-kick before the turnaround and the Norwegians were on the back-foot when Hojlund headed in the equaliser on the hour mark.

However, their comeback was in vain when Haaland walloped in the winner in the 74th minute.

There was some late drama when Norway’s David Moller Wolfe was red-carded in stoppage-time.

However, Haaland and Co are now top of League A Group 4 – with Portugal, skippered by veteran Cristiano Ronaldo – beating Wales 1-0 in the other game in the section.

Hogh will be hoping for a place in the starting line-up when his nation welcome Craig Bellamy’s Welsh side on Sunday.
