HAKSA HEART SET ON HOOPS

CELTIC are stepping up their interest in Rubin Kazan winger Sead Haksabanovic.

The 23-year-old Montenegro ace cost £6million when the Russian club bought him from IFK Norkopping 15 months ago, but he is now available at a knockdown price, according to a report in the Daily Record.

Swedish-born Haksabanovic, capped 18 times by his adopted country, is currently training alone in his homeland with his future unclear, but speculation continues to link him with the champions with this transfer window now extended by 24 hours to September 1.

Sources insist the player has his heart set on a move to Ange Postecoglou’s side who showed an interest earlier in the summer.

ON THE RUN…Sead Haksabanovic displays his determination.

The left-sided attacker, who can also operate through the middle much in the manner of Daizen Maeda, was loaned to Djurgardens this year due to FIFA regulations following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Swedish team are keen to land the attacker on a new temporary contract and reports insist Haksabanovic, who is under contract until June 2026, is determined to quit the relegated Russian team on a permanent deal.

A move to Parkhead appears to appeal to the player who had spells at West Ham and Malaga earlier in his career.

Postecoglou raided Rubin Kazan in July last year when he paid £4.2million for Sweden international centre-back Carl Starfelt.

Now the pair could be reunited at the champions.
