    Bobby…

Am really looking forward to next Saturday but also shoiting myself, it’s easy typing words but when it comes to actually meeting people it’s quite scary, my daughter (who I type about all the time) says to me today “dad, can I go to 10 to 10….. She has no fear

As for the cliquey thing, it’s impossible to have a clique when it’s open to all

A poster earlier today said once you meet people so you then kid on you don’t know them, my daughter and better half are now in their kils, Cqn is a wee God send for me….. Even better I can post a lot of nonsense (nothing personal) then turn iPad off….I would get away with that in my local

We have all made successful predictions about the outcomes of matches.

They are only impressive if you list them against the times that you predicted an outcome which did not happen. We should not be surprised that we can make successful predictions on the outcome of football matches. We should only be surprised or impressed if our ability to do so exceeds that of the average spectator/observer by a statistically significant margin.

If you look at CQN match day blogs half-way through our first half in all matches then you would have seen the phrase “If we keep on playing like this, we are going to lose this game”. You would also see its twin prediction if we scrape a draw or win, which reads:- “If we play like this against (insert next big opponents) we will lose”.

Doom is predicted for Celtic during every match and doom is predicted for the next match as soon as we avoid the first-predicted doom. And yet, Celtic for the past 15 or more years has enjoyed a high level of success in games. We are not in the doldrums of the 1950s or the 1990s. We are winning more than the teams of the late 70s and the 80s. But we are also undoubtedly more unhappy with our lot. It is not realism to assert that we are rubbish at a time of increased success. I can only see it as a failure to take joy from our successes allied to a bit of rose-tinted nostalgia for the days of our youth. It is a failure to recall with realism the many blown matches against inferior opposition and a period from 1975 to 2000 when we became European also-rans.

I have no doubt that the Bosman ruling , the steroid influence of TV money, and the Big 5 leagues and sugar-daddy clubs have raised the bar beyond a level where we can realistically compete in any consistent fashion.

I wish and hope that there are plans by the movers and shakers to keep us in mind when football organisations get shaken up in future but I have no alternative as a fan but to wait until I see how that pans out. Otherwise Scottish football will just get smaller and smaller and Peter Lawwell will get the blame for factors beyond his individual influencing.

If Dermot Desmond was not just blowing wind mid-week, there is an interesting question to be posed- “Would we accept an escape route to a more lucrative league set up if the price to be paid was that we had to be accompanied by the resurrected corpse of our formal rivals?

  3. Beefy,

Just you stick to BBC and lala land bedtime story’s and don’t let facts get in the way of dream reality, the Russians have done more in 5 days than your champions have done in four years probably just lucky eh, good guessers

Dallas… Does Dallas junior take his football skills from his mothers side

(By the way I shouldn’t laugh at my own post but I am sitting here like your hero Charlie)

  5. That pitch today was a joke, the one at Kilmarnock is much better. It is a legitimate reason for a poor performance, you could see most of the players were struggling. Just glad to get the points it was all that mattered.

Regarding the disorganisation, i would cut some slack in that it was a new defensive pairing. Boyata does not seem to be a big talker, clearly this needs to change. I also think Craig Cordon needs to do more in terms of pushing the defensive line away from goal. We cannot rely on a 21 year old Simunovic to organise the troops. Lustig also missed today in this respect.

Before the game today i though we picked the right team apart from Janko. I like him but thought it would have been sensible to play the vastly more experienced Lustig given that we had a new defensive pairing.

Fair play also to Hamilton they battled well in the middle of the park.

  6. DALLAS DALLAS I was standing beind him on touchline when he hit it and as soon as he struck

    it said thats in

Noticed Blaine and wee Kieran also

How you have asked the question is the poser for me

Would we accept? to acceot it would imply we have a choice

Would we like it? Personally no I wouldnt

I hope that poser never materializes

it is only an idle thought as far as I know.

You can torture yoursef stupid trying to work out the motivation of someone who, whatever they are saying, is not necessarily what they are thinking.

I really hope its “pie in the sky talk” I wouldnt have “thems” back no matter what the perceived prize

but then its all about the money

if it happened although not happy I would still support Celtic and to that end would then be complicit in their resurgence (I think lol)

    O you know what i mean :-))

Dermott Desmond is a businessman before Celtic fan, he doesn’t think like you or most other fans, business is business, me I love Celtic, stuff your EPL, I am not even that fussed with the CL, Celtic is Celtic for me, love your posts about getting home t crazy hours in the morning, puts me to shame as I only live 20mins away but am afraid going to Celtic park usually means I am out till the next day, sad but true, am safer watching BT or listening to the radio, and my daughter wouldn’t speak to me if I even attempted to go…. Have been planting the seed and even though in her words “am a girl” hopefully the day she wants to visit paradise the parent & child ticket will be purchased !

I think the CQN consensus especially for those that read The Battered Bunnet’s post, concluded that Dermot Desmond wasn’t only blowing wind, he was blowing the same ole wind, and the only ‘escape route’ is the same ole orifice.

Honestly not a clue, mate. I’m always just happy to see anyone else turning up.

Should be a wee chance also to get some more plans laid for Dublin. On which, really looking forward to having a chat with Cloghercelt.

First question-is there a one-off exemption next year for a certain law on Good Friday?

  13. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Jc2, i said to Kieran he was finally wearing the hoops but they were the wrong colour according to him.

Blaine took a sore one on his head and was a bit groggy looking after the match. I hope he’s alright. He’s had a lot of bad luck with injuries.

Kieran took his goal very well today.

Thanks for the compliment about my son’s goal, it was one of these shots , as you said, as soon as it was hit, it was going in the onion bag.

I think I do as I am conflicted that way myself.

We face the same torture over understanding how the club played its hand during the 5 way agreement nonsense.

Exactly , yet we are still there in considerable numbers…….poser right enough

Nice to see you today lazy arse :-)

I did concede that organisation may have been affected by an unfamiliar back 4, however, I was 3 rows from the front and right behind the goal and it was concerning to see regular starters arguing about which zone they should be in.

  16. Gerryfaethebrig,

Please don’t take this the wrong way ,but why would your family be upset if you went to Paradise once in a while. You might be pleasantly surprised if you asked.

Failing that you could always say you were doing OT and even take your Warburtons pieces with you.

This is meant in no way as criticism as I am aware that family must come first.

What is your current belief on our participation in the 5 way agreement and if it’s found that we played a part, what subsequent action would you take?

  22. Dena29,

Probably wrong but. Champions League gone, Nothing done or said about Sevco, £4m paid to Neil Lennon’s team, who I support, but had thought had walked away from their ‘contracts’.

    Without mentioning the defence.

My good lady is up at 5am 5 days out of 7 as she starts at 6am on those 5 out of 7 days, her only day off apart from a Saturday is a Thursday and she takes our daughter to school on that day off, if you think me going to watch Celtic is more important than family life fair play, I know where my priorities lie (sic) and by the way I probably wouldn’t go straight home from Celtic park, but that is my problem, Lennybhoy phoned me last season offering me a ticket for the cup final, I felt like a million dollars but my response was I would feel like a fake…. I have done my stint as a youngster from Ekern to old Trafford to pittodrie so if you feel like my family should have a problem, well I am afraid you are wrong, Celtic is just Celtic, I don’t even care if we don’t win, but my family will always come first, and to be frank I don’t appreciate you questioning anything about my family because I know for a fact I wouldn’t question your family

  24. Was too busy at work today to look at the updates so i put the radio on so i knew roughly what was going on.

Had the game recorded and thought i might watch it if it sounded a good game or if we turned in a great performance, but by the sound of it neither happened.

Decided to watch it for myself anyway and scrolled through CQN Updates in sync with the action.

Amazing how some people pop up once things are not looking very good yet are nowhere to be seen when the tables are turned.

It wasn’t pretty that’s for sure!

Considering it was an away game against a team that’s been on a wee run, on that surface and how flat teams can be after European fixtures id say it was a great 3 points to mark up and especially after yesterdays scoreline at the sheep pen.

Normally a win like that would be viewed as being a huge 3 points but not any more.

Celtic need to serve up fabby fitty with a wee cherry on top nowadays and hard fought wins are frowned upon.

Some of you bhoys are soft now.

Will take those victories any time.

As for it being a chance to stick another knife into Ronny……so many things going on in that game today and in our season in general so far.

Along with the dodgy pitch we were subjected to ‘get intae them fitba’ which was allowed to flow when needed by a hun ref.

Quite a few players that are trying to find there feet at our club were in our team and 3 of those made up our defence.

They were not helped too much by the performances of 3 of the 4 attacking players who were poor.

Thought Boyatta had a pretty solid game and chipped in with another goal, so not too bad a day for him.

A big welcome to Scottish fitba for Saidy today!

Cant help but think that was a big part of his learning curve here and i think he did all right again considering the circumstances mentioned earlier.

He looks like he can cope with it all though and once he really gets settled in i think he is going to do alright.

Showed a bit of character and discipline to steady himself after losing the ball on a few occasions and also receiving a booking from the hun ref.

Couldn’t see much positives from Blackett though……the lad needs to start showing something soon.

Though Broony was MOM……just what the doctor ordered today.

1 sloppy pass in the 1st half apart, i thought he put in a great shift and did the dirty work that was being piled on by the poor attacking midfield performances of Commons, Rogic and Forrest.

Bitton did well too considering what was going on in front of him but let himself down a few times when he should have done better.

Great shift from Griffiths….ran his socks off, got another goal and made a great delivery for the equaliser too.

Gordon didn’t have much to do despite Hamilton getting plenty of encouragement from us…..picked 1 out the net that on another day he may have tipped by the post but he then pulled out all the stops to make a stunning save that has played a huge part in those 3 points.

Liken this 1 to away to St Mirren last season.

These games win leagues every bit as much as impressive 5-0 wins.

  25. Delaneys,

I will be in touch midweek to draw up our battle plan for Saturday,

is it just the 2 of us from republican Clydebank heading up
