  1. Ronny has failed and is now siding with cheating.

    He has to go.

But he won’t because the board do t care, can’t admit they are wrong and have no interest in what the support think.

His comments after last nights match were appalling even for him.

Remember all those promises of fast flowing attacking football? All that guff about fitness.

Two years later we play one up front, slow ponderous unattractive football, regularly get beat or drop points and the players do not look fit. It’s all guff.

The only constant is the cheating and now Ronny, in a effort I can only think to ingratiate himself with Scotlands racists, he is siding with them rather than his own players.

    Amazing really.

But like I say we are on the slow road to oblivion and there appears to be no turning back.

  2. TD67,

If you think RD is a Celtic manager then you don’t have a very high regard for the role. He is an inexperienced project who was the cheap option. He is out of his depth. He has no plan B. We are going backwards under him. There is no longer any fight when the chips are down. He should never been appointed as a Celtic manager. It was a mistake. The longer it drags on the more damage he does.

A real Celtic Manager would have questioned the decision and defended his player. Contrast with MON versus Juvenile and the penalty the ref game to win it 3 2 for Juvenile.

Can you imagine Stein, McNeil, Hay, O’Neill, Burns and co throwing Boyata under the bus especially with Thomsons track record of game turning decisions against Celtic incl the recent LC semi.

What possessed RD to do it. He is out of depth, in survival mode and trapped in the headlights.

The Celtic jersey does not shrink to fir inferior players.

The Celtic Managers role requires a manager with presence and leadership to stand up for the club, players and supporters…..but especially the players and a young like Boyata.

If you think that Deila is that man to do that after last nite you are sadly deluded. RD is finished after last nite. The dressing room will seal his fit.

Then I hope we can have a manager who befits the Celtic Maangers role. However that will not happen under Lawwell as he wants a yes man.

RD is finished……time to put him and us out of our misery.

  3. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

    SID

There is no way PL will sack RD now.

We concentrate on winning the league first,..which we will.

Next season is another kettle of fish.

Although, i do have the suspicion that we will need a tougher manager next season, to cope with what will be flung at us…Craig Thompson….we aint seen nothing yet.

The cheating will go into overdrive.

    HH

  4. Another thing that puzzles me about Ronnies criticism, ok he has a go at Boyata for not staying on his feet, but surely these days all the coaching staff must get some form of communication, text or whatever to tell them that it was proven that Boyata touched the ball.

  5. NEGANON2 on 27TH FEBRUARY 2016 12:54 PM

If the board can’t admit they are wrong why did they sack Mowbray?

  6. To me RD has had far more chances than Tony Mowbray got, TM was also a bad appointment, they way it looks to me is RD knows he is out , the players know and some of them are following him hence the performance levels.

  7. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Coolmore..,

I don’t think there will be many decent managers with euro experience that will take the job, now that is what I call downsizing 2016

  8. weebobbycollins on

GARY67 @ 12.45…I understand and admire the role of these players, just having some fun with the ‘protect’ element…

  9. Joe Filippis Haircut on

The problem we have is if the board decide Ronny should leave at the end of the season not because he has not won anything but because he has lost the dressing room and the support is who of any decent calibre will want the job ? I think we would likely end up with another low profile appointment think John Hughes Alan Stubbs Owen Coyle would any of them be better than what we have ? H.H.

  10. TBB

Your observation on a lack of shape and consistently getting caught one on one is spot on.

There is no value in having a defensive midfielder with the current shape – the only impact he would have is he would share the red cards that our last man ( Efe, Boyata) pick up.

Since we moved away from zonal defence at corners to a mix of zonal and blockers, our stats at corners against have got worse.

We all know we have limited resources and can criticize our board, but bottom line is this guy has been making same mistakes with shape since the Legia game and shows no sign of learning.

    Winning Captains

As you infer most important thing is getting across the home run line, however if we wait till summer to ditch him, a new guy will come in with about 3 weeks to prepare for CL qualifiers.

Alternatively, he may ditch us – with hopefully 2 titles, he won’t be short of job offers

We should ditch RD now, and despite our league and the financial challenges there would be no shortage of credible candidates applying

  11. mullet and co 2 on

I am 80% certain that the decision to let Ronny leave has been made. What we are seeing is a car with little petrol left passengers that want off and a vehicle with known faults.

It is a tragedy the way the club has been treated.

You know a managers time is up when you don’t consider any player fit for purpose. Does anyone really believe Ronny could take us into a European qualifier against any opposition and win it?

How much would it cost to get him and his team to pack their bags and get someone in now that could make a difference to a team and play for much needed European football post August.

  12. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

I think its clear….if we want a decent manager, we are going to have to pay what it takes.

Project players is one thing, Project managers another thing entirely.

Its poor decision making at the top….PL is responsible.

    HH

  13. Clash City Bhoy –

genuine question and not a dig but which ‘credible candidates’ are you thinking of? Personaly I think we really are between a rock and a hard place.

  14. JFH

On the 3 names you mentioned I believe at least 2 out of the 3 could improve the team, simply through better organisation and tactical awareness, question is will that improvement be enough to take us to the next to

Level and by that I mean being able to compete with the teams striving to qualify for the CL group stages, therein lies the conundrum

  15. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

    Joe Filippis Haircut

Low profile, what does that matter ?

Hughes for example, knows how to build, set-out and motivate a team. He has a wealth of experience including success and failure, so why not, someone that has a proven track record ?

  16. TGM

I think that will be heavily dependant on what Aberdeen do.

Aberdeen with 12 games remaining can reach a maximum of 91, Celtic 11 remaining can reach 95.

Anyone care to guess roughly what it would take to get the job done, or what number Celtic are likely to reach?

  17. Auldheid on 27th February 2016 11:22 am

    ==========================

    ‘Making things up’?

I think you’ll find it’s not me making anything up – it’s Ronny Deila, pretending to be capable of managing Celtic.

Tackle was a tackle. A peach. Deila then threw Boyata under a bus. Plenty of options to deflect the question with, chose to slaughter our Centre Back for doing his job superbly.

SHOULD have panned that Hun Monkey Thompson – did Gollum get away with his Aberdeen mistakes? No, crucified by McInnes, in rightful defence of his player; keeps the embattled squad mentality intact.

Ronny Deila showed last night how you lose a dressing room, and ergo your job.

And Scott Allan – a creative mid we should have dead centre, protected, and playing through him; stuck out on the left wing. Facepalm team selection and deployment.

  18. saltires en sevilla on

One is the most important, if not one of the best goals, we ever scored

Direct result of one full back not following direct instruction of his manager to ‘sit’ when the other fullback was in an attacking position!

The Lions took a gamble and it paid off!

Players need to read the game as it develops and talk their way thro’ each situation.

Nevertheless, I totally agree we should never be left 1 on 1 at the back. The risk of counter-arrack by even a medium paced striker plus 1 other runner is too high.

    It’s basic stuff !

  19. Watched the game last night in a hotel room in Europe.

It was depressingly similar to so many games under RD.

    No shape.pace.strategy or discernible plan.

A coach high on rhetoric who has never implemented his vision.

Someone highlighted the amount of passes behind or wrong side by us.

This is our norm and typical of a poor team coached in a reactionary style.

Being moaning about this since last season.

This has to be a coaching directive as there seems no other reason for our lack of movement.

    Not backing Boyata was unforgiveable.

He is a liability and should be removed from coaching duties immediately.

We have to win this league and he is cause for concern.

Our squad has a lot of good players unfortunately we lack the coaching to make them a team.

  20. LUCKY CODY BETS

I’ll say it one more time, RD is the manager, Celtic are my team, I support them win loss or draw, that’s just the way I am, and you can call me all the names under the sun, and make accusations about my mental state of health all you like I couldent give a tinkers …. One thing I will say is I have more joy supporting them than you and 50% of the pseudo Celtic supporters in here do,

  21. LUCKY CODY BETS on 27TH FEBRUARY 2016 11:58 AM

    Auldheid,

I respect your defence of RD especially with your resilience and determination regarding the resolutions.

However our manager threw Boyata under the bus. It doesn’t matter if he never seen it again or 100 times. Thomson has screwed Celtic many times incl the recent LC semi where he sent off Efe for an accidental collision.

Our manager is useless. He has lost the support and probably the entire dressing room after his cowardly lack of support for Boyata.

    He needs to be sacked.

Of course he is not the problem. He was looked at as a No 2 until Lawwell seen a cheap option to help secure the Bonus.

RD is a coward and must be sacked ASAP

    ======

If you read what I said I was not “defending” RD I was saying he needs a fair hearing and the post I referred to was not based on anything other than what the poster made of the event, so I think RD has the right of reply.

If he honestly thought it was a penalty then he is not going to say it wasn’t or should he have lied to himself? Given that saying it wasnt a foul and so not an ordering off offence would have got him in the good books so why didn’t he just say that?

However where he is at fault is speaking his truth because of its effect on Boyota and saying he wasn’t sure would have been wiser had he thought it through.

The last place where any of us think through our feelings to reason is at the end of a game. RD is no different and my conclusion on hearing him last night was that players had been told specifically not to make that kind of last ditch tackle because it gives refs in Scotland a match changing opportunity which RD has to bear the brunt of not the players.

So if I were in RD’S shoes I’d be angry at Boyota for not following instructions (if they were given) so I’d like to know why his anger at Boyota clouded his judgement in that interview.

The interpretation is that RD threw Boyota under a bus. Such are things between the support and Celtic, Boyota might just as easily be accused of doing the same to RD by not following instructions.

I’d like to hear the full story before deciding.

That is what a fair hearing is.

  22. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

    SID

If we lose the league, then PL will have to go never mind RD.

However…I think we will scrape it.

Aberdeen are no mugs, that’s for sure.

As much as im not keen on RD….now is not the time to change imo.

It will be tight, but we can do it….just.

    HH

  23. The Green Man

Only one person will decide if PL goes and that will be DD , unless he PL chucks it.

  24. TGM

What benefits do you see with sticking with a manager and system until the end of season that looks vulnerable every game we play?

  25. lucky cody bets on

RD is history ….now who is next

Moyes no 1 choice for me. The manager should be the best paid at the club…..cc Fergie

Lawwell will stick by his puppet as long as possible. He will have his plan b and it will be a low cost yes man….Hoopy the Hound

That said probably an improvement on the incumbent….what’s not too like?

  26. Has Thomson been demoted yet? More Rubbish again last night,is Scott Brown ill ? Never seen him less effective in a Celtic jersey. No more penalties for LG. MOTM Chris Sutton.

  27. It gets harder to defend the position of backing Ronny until the end of the season.

In our last seven matches, we have won four against SJ(home) ICT(home) RC(home) EK(away) – lost two against RC(semi) Aberdeen(away) – drew HAM(away) – our performances have been patchy to poor in ALL these matches.

Our next six will be tougher and will almost certainly define our current season and maybe next – Dundee(home) Morton(home) Thistle(away) Kilmarnock(away) Hearts (home) Motherwell(away).

Can we ‘up our game’ in a way we have been unable to do in the last seven?

If we can’t, post the ‘split’ we could be playing catch-up.

  28. Sandman

You know you weren’t there so you know you don’t know what took place at half time.

See my previous response on fair hearing to Lucky Cody.

Put it this way if I was in court I wouldn’t want you as a judge but if you were in court you would want someone like me.

    Yes?

    No?

  29. Jobo,

I don’t have anyone in mind, but bottom line is there are a lot of very credible managers desperate to get back into football, and there are more candidates than vacancies.

Realistically what is the next move for Rodgers, Sherwood, Moyes etc. ?

It is either doing what Lambert did , or what Moyes did, or coming to us

Whether you see those individuals as credible is a subjective view, but for those guys, will they get another £2/3 m a year job, or do they rebuild their career for say £750 plus bonuses to reach £1m with us?

( not saying RD earns that amount, but I think we would stretch to probably £1.2 max)

My post match post. After much thought, I still feel the same.

THOMTHETHIM FOR OSCAR OK on 26TH FEBRUARY 2016 10:12 PM

Once again we couldn’t deliver with ten men.

Apart from that handicap of ten men, we couldn’t come to grips with the playing surface.

We were unable to find a team mate with a pass. Anything a yard in front of them was unreachable

Why did Thompson not delay his whistle for a second at the second penalty.

Anyway, the same the breaks and apart from CraiGen’s new red card rule, there
