Hampden hangover

322

Let’s be clear: Dundee are in their best form in years and are more than capable of taking something from Celtic tonight.  They also have the incentive of catching Dundee United, who have collapsed since Celtic dismantled them recently.  If there is any sort of Hampden hangover, we’ll not win the game.

What I expect is the cup-tied pair of Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong to return to the side and give fresh impetus.  I also expect Dundee to suffer the most outrageously unfair refereeing decision seen outside of Hampden in years; proof (cough), if it was needed, that referees don’t only make mistakes against Celtic.

If Leigh Griffiths collides with Scott Brown inside the Dundee box, Celtic will be awarded a penalty.  These are our expectations of the Scottish game.

I bear no ill-feeling towards Josh Meekings. He stuck his hand up to stop a ball instinctively. I’ve done the same, a moment later you’re looking at your hand wondering, ‘Why did I do that?’ So I felt the player being suspended was a bit harsh. Then I saw him posing with his ‘trophy’ hand. Stuff him.

My only dispute with the SFA is that their rules allow retrospective action when a referee has not seen an incident. Mr McLean saw everything, but was persuaded not to act.

Have you climbed Ben Nevis?  It’s a fantastic experience.  The Foundation are taking a group there in June, and anything the Foundation do is a fantastic experience.  I know several people who have told me they’re doing this but who have not registered yet.  Your place needs to be booked with the mountain authorities well in advance.  Register here NOW!

UEFA Vice Pres,Jim Boyce says Meekings should not be banned,’a dangerous precedent…’

I agree with him BB,the only evidence being used to punish Meekings is TV evidence,

well that and the incompetence of our socalled governing body.

I hope this goes further.:-)but dont hold out much hope but it is interesting Jim boyce speaking out considering his Uefa background, i would have thought the usual ‘we leave individual associations’garb would have been order of the day.unless of course its law by telly.

Tesco Tinned ravioli may be edible but only just mind, but woe betide any CQN’er foolhardy

enough to try Heinz tinned macaroni n cheese.

Regretfully, there are no emoticons or sad faces on here, let alone ones that show revulsion/puking and even if there was I doubt it would do justice to just how horrendously awful that stuff actually is.

The other tinned product to be avoided is one called “All day breakfast”. An omelette in a tin FFS! mixed with beans and something that purports to be sausage. What it actually is is anyone’s guess, ghastly,

One mans meat is another mans poison, and all that, but still stay clear of dodgy tinned things.

That it is the first time such a protocol has been introduced is surprising.

That it has been used in the context of the semi-final, less so.

    Re: Catholic masons ….

It has been a while since I looked at this (church law was one of my areas of grad work, but that was a long time ago ) …. however, what I recall is that there are masonic lodges which do allow Catholics, but membership is not permitted by the Catholic church.

In the 1917 Code of Canon law, s. 2335 specifically banned membership in the masons, and made it punishable by excommunication.

When the Code of Canon law was updated in 1983, s. 1374 said that it was not permissible to join organizations which plot against the Church, but it did not mention the masons by name, and did not mention excommunication any longer. As such, many commentators took that to mean that the Church was reversing its ban on Catholics joining the masons,, or that local bishops could permit it, if it was shown that the local Lodge was not anti-Catholic

However at the same time (or shortly thereafter), the Church (through the Sacred Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, which was then headed up by Cardinal Ratzinger, later to become the Pope) released a Declaration which clearly stated that the Church’s position on Catholics joining Freemasons remained unchanged … that is, it is a no go.

I dont think that has changed since…. but, as I said, I haven’t done much work in that area for several years, so it is possible that I am out of date.

  17. I see shortbread are now spinning the Fifa story re the handball by Meekins.

They are now missing out the part of the statement that says the referee-officials should be punished.

I know I am in the minority on CQN, but I think that CG has probably been our best player this year. With one bad game excepted, he has been at a consistently high standard. I think that when he has been called into action, his saves have directly gained us more points than any other player. Also, SJ is more important to how we wish to play than SB. And young Denayer (who I think has been exceptional, even more so given his young age) would be ahead of SB for me as well.

Does anyone know the betting for us getting a penalty tonight.

I would not be surprised if we get a dodgy one when we are 2-0 up with 5 mins to go.

Wouldn’t it be great if we took it and deliberately kicked it towards the corner flag, to erase all doubt of us trying to score. When the obvious question is asked by the media why our player says we don’t want bad decisions to even up the previous one, we want fair play for all.

See how the sfa spin that one?
