Hampden hangover

322

Let’s be clear: Dundee are in their best form in years and are more than capable of taking something from Celtic tonight.  They also have the incentive of catching Dundee United, who have collapsed since Celtic dismantled them recently.  If there is any sort of Hampden hangover, we’ll not win the game.

What I expect is the cup-tied pair of Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong to return to the side and give fresh impetus.  I also expect Dundee to suffer the most outrageously unfair refereeing decision seen outside of Hampden in years; proof (cough), if it was needed, that referees don’t only make mistakes against Celtic.

If Leigh Griffiths collides with Scott Brown inside the Dundee box, Celtic will be awarded a penalty.  These are our expectations of the Scottish game.

I bear no ill-feeling towards Josh Meekings. He stuck his hand up to stop a ball instinctively. I’ve done the same, a moment later you’re looking at your hand wondering, ‘Why did I do that?’ So I felt the player being suspended was a bit harsh. Then I saw him posing with his ‘trophy’ hand. Stuff him.

My only dispute with the SFA is that their rules allow retrospective action when a referee has not seen an incident. Mr McLean saw everything, but was persuaded not to act.

Have you climbed Ben Nevis?  It’s a fantastic experience.  The Foundation are taking a group there in June, and anything the Foundation do is a fantastic experience.  I know several people who have told me they’re doing this but who have not registered yet.  Your place needs to be booked with the mountain authorities well in advance.  Register here NOW!

pfayr-if you think about it, the SFA could have made it public in defence of Muir, if he was saying it wasn’t a pen etc?

  7. For those who don’t agree with my empathising with “mentally shattered” Josh Meekins let me say this…

I get why fholk think he should get punished for his errant handball I do also.

However the fact is if you have been involved in in an incident and the match official “dealt” with it, that’s it. The SFA are only supposed to deal with things the Referee didn’t see.

On Sunday the referee seen the hand ball, the Celtic players appealed for a penalty, someone run after him still appealing and he gestured them away.

Meekins was perfectly entitled to believe the Officials had dealt with it at the time.

Of course he should not be playing in the final and probably won’t be but – it’s the hope that kills ye!

Meekings is heading for a ban for a red card offence END OF.

If the Chuckle BROTHERS would have done the right thing and sent him off on Sunday ,we widnae be listening to all this the boy should play.

Only point is the dodgy chackle BROTHERS, have done the sleekit here and washed their hands of it and left the Compliance officer and Celtic to take the flak,

maybe we should start a petition to get Craig Gordons red forgot about.

    Harsh but true.

Difficult to argue with that. I was shocked to learn he’d notched 27 goals. That’s some return.

Still wouldn’t have him in the Hoops tho’. For some reason he just doesn’t fit the mould.

  14. Have the higher echelons of Scottish society,Scotish freemason and the Scotish mediia got the most secure networks, admission criteria and hold the most secretive of meetings in order to protect their combined conspiracy to defeat everything to do with Celtic Football club. They must have because for the 50 odd years I have been fortunate enough to reside in Scotland not one person has been able to infiltrate their ranks and expose their skullduggery and scheming.

Whereas elsewhere in the world major espionage organisations, government agencies, religious bodies and multimillion pound business empires have been unable to prevent spy’s and whistleblowers from spilling their dirty little secrets

I know the online accounts have the Valderama incident detailed with no mention of a card, but I remember watching the incident on the tele. Maybe I am just card obsessed at the moment and no card was actually shown. I have a clear recollection (I know – nurse I need a bed pan) of Snoddy giving a freekick for the guy diving. The BBC/ITV John Motson/Brian Moore guy seemed lost for words at first. Sadly, he didn’t remain so.

I mentioned the other day that we are the only club capable of stopping Scottish football being dominated from the North, an unlikely alliance of Gaels, Picts and Vikings against our own dear green place. They all have a chance of some kind of European football next season, unless Falkirk win the Scottish Cup that is. Not sure if it will turn out to be a major factor in the run-in, but it could well be. Guess we will start finding out tonight.

So Sky allow us to hear Jim Boyce’s Cliftonville loving, WATP/OBE Ulster accent telling us that he’s “absolutely, 100 percent against the compliance officer becoming involved because the referee’s decision is final” while the BBC use a Scottish reporter to voice these absurdities. Any particular reason for this?
