Hapoel Beer-Shiva delivered Olympiakos first defeat in a Champions League qualifying match in six years. The Greeks have competed in the group stage every season since, holding their own throughout the period, so getting knocked out by Hapoel was the equivalent of losing a Scottish Cup semi-final to a lower-league club.
Hapoel are not better than Olympiakos, not nearly so, but they were good enough to progress when they got the breaks. Anyone who thinks we’ll easy past them into the group stage is being ridiculously complacent.
I’m trying to avoid the nonsense coming out of Ibrox while we have more important things going on, but good grief! Please, please, have them follow through on the nonsense of ditching their legally contracted Puma strips to wear something else.
That stadium seems to be a beacon attracting stupid people doing stupid things.
You’ll note the INDEPENDENT SFA report on crowd at the Scottish Cup final recorded no assaults whatsoever on Newco players. This clearly caused some dissonance at the media organisations who reported utter fabrications after the game.
Never mind, Newco is in the same good hands which were on the tiller when their disastrous EBT plan was enacted, and the players who benefited from EBTs are front and central of Newco media coverage.

Just having a wee look at the goalscorer markets for today’s game, now Hearts just got beaten by some team from Malta or wherever at Tynecastle, who in turn got pumped in the next Europa qualifiers, they must be a good bit behind us fitness wise and Brendan has the bhoys getting into gear, Moussa Dembelle getting his first goal (& penalty taker) is a massive 50/1 for a hat-trick today, I will be happy with 1-0, any win will do, but 50/1 for a striker who will be brimming with confidence is no to be sniffed at……a couple of shillings already on, if Moussa is in starting line up I might re-invest

Hillhouse Hamilton, came up to High Tyre looking
for any straggler Tims who might be hinging aboot
especially on the nights that they’re hun-school-bus
that used to wave butchers apron and, red hand flags at
high tyre pupils from John Ogilvie and, threw half-bricks, bottles,
darts, golf balls, spanners, bags of nails etc….but, when they got it back
the pupils and they’re big brithers etc would come in packs to hunt us.
Little did they think that, the Tim pupils would be tooled up and waiting with
our own big brithers to chase them back home again ;-)
Ye see, that was us warming up for the SCF in 1980 ;-)
Anyway….yer better aff if ye live in ‘middle’ Blantyre, like I did…straight across
the road from John Ogilvie chapel.

Have we really turned against Craig Gordon?
He came into the squad, cost no transfer fee – instantly we forgot about big Fraser, unlike some of the other departures – e.g. Hooper, Victor, Jason and VVD, there was not an immediate and catastrophic deterioration in the vacated position.
He, like every other player in ANY squad, makes the odd mistake, but surely these are more than offset by some of game-changing saves he makes.
I think it is wise to have healthy competition for the position, and from what I’ve seen (on TV) of Vorm, he is very good.
I think we are lucky to have such an experienced keeper.

In CG’s biggest game for us, he threw 2 balls into the net
vs Inter at Celtic Park.
He needs challenged.
Plus, he was brought in to replace Big FF, the subsequent transfer fee
of a cool £10 million disappeared as if by magic.
Aye…..
Gordon has been great signing for us considering he cost nothing, excellent shot stopper but commanding box isn’t great.
I’d rather we improved other areas of the team first, don’t think any real rush with the goalkeeper situation.
But I suppose if right keeper comes along then Brendan won’t turn him down.
