CELTIC’S legendary skipper Scott Brown celebrates his 41st birthday today.
The former Hoops onfield leader was brought to the champions for a-then Scottish club record transfer fee of £4.4million from Hibs by Gordon Strachan in May 2007.
Fans’ favourite Broony left Parkhead in the summer of 2021 following the dreadful Covid-interrupted campaign of 2020/21.

The all-action midfielder may have departed on a low with the club failing to lift silverware for the first time in 11 years, but he could still hold his head high after gaining a remarkable haul of 22 winners’ medals in a glorious career at the Hoops.
Over his years in Glasgow, the Fifer had opportunities to go elsewhere, but he knocked them back and steadfastly insisted: “Winning games in front of a full Celtic Park, winning trebles and clinching nine in a row definitely topped it.
“I came to Celtic because I wanted to win trophies, play in the Champions League and test myself against the best players in the world. I’ve done all of those things and loved it.”
Unfortunately, Brown’s move from Celtic to Aberdeen in the summer of 2021 to take up a player-coaching role alongside ex-Hibs pal Stephen Glass didn’t go according to plan.

The manager was sacked after the Scottish Cup exit to Motherwell and on March 22 – after the introduction of Jim Goodwin as the new gaffer – the former Scotland international left Pittodrie.
On May 6, Brown announced his retirement from the playing side of the game and six days later was named manager of Fleewtood Town.
In his debut campaign, the club finished a respectable 13th in the 24-team League One. He left early in September 2024 and took over as boss at Ayr United four months later.
The Parkhead icon was on the move again when he left the Somerset Park outfit “by mutual consent” in March this year.
