Happy with a down and dirty 0-1

Partick Thistle are second bottom of the table, but there is a bigger story going on.

They have failed to win only one home game in over three months – a 0-1 defeat to Hibs, which means they have a better home record than anyone else in the league over that period.  While only three points above Ross County, they have won three of their four games since losing 2-0 at Celtic Park the week before Christmas, losing only 1-0 at Pittodrie. Alan Archibald’s squad has been bolstered in recent weeks by the return of several of the long-term injured, which has changed the entire perspective on which teams should be regarded as vulnerable in the bottom half of the league.

Thistle now believe they will escape relegation and the play-off spot (tip: County, Accies, respectively).  They will know that the champions will provide their sternest test at home since our disputed 0-1 win their earlier this season, but we will earn any points we collect tonight.

We should win, of course, but I’ll be happy with a down and dirty 0-1.

NEW CQN PODCAST OUT TONIGHT WITH THE ORIGINAL HOLY GOALIE, JOHN FALLON

A Celtic State of Mind presents its 31st instalment of insightful discussion around the culture of Celtic Football Club, the city of Glasgow, and fans of the reigning treble-winning Scottish champions.

Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham are joined by Lisbon Lion, John Fallon, at The Penalty Spot in Glasgow.

The interview took place as part of A Celtic State of Mind’s first live event – Five-a-sides at The Penalty Spot – and, as such, there is some background noise (including mobile interference – apologies) from the audience.

John – The Original Holy Goalie – discusses pay disputes, bonus rows, cigarettes & alcohol at Seamill, breaking up The Lisbon Lions and The Quality Street Gang, the battle of Montevideo, his volatile relationship with Jock Stein, and he finally tells the full story behind his European Cup winners’ medal.

The CQN Podcast has gone from strength-to-strength over the last few months, and there are many more guests lined up in the months ahead from the world of sport, music, film, art, broadcasting, literature and politics.

Our first two editions of 2018 have attracted huge audiences for the interviews with former Celtic Director Tom Grant them politician and life long Celtic supporter Tommy Sheridan, who likes a rant!

Talking about rants, we hand over to the Original Holy Goalie, when it comes to matters concerning Celtic, he has an opinion on everything. Legend!

    Let me get this right.

Its daft to expect your team to improve, or be critical of repeated mistakes.

    Pfft:-) :-):-)

  2. Happy Birthday, HT, and many o’ them.

And Celtic always have been rubbish at shies in my time of watching them, including the Lions (we literally threw away the distinct possibility of another Big Cup by a poor throw in at Celtic Park).

Team doesn’t seem to have read Paul’s article this morning. Too busy chasing podiums.
