Hard work, fans and Celtic with focus

I love Paris, the food, the sights, the people, the atmosphere of the place.  So it came as a surprise when I watched Messi and Neymar booed by their own PSG fans after their elimination from the Champions League.  The greatest of all time and a talented show pony, both the toast of the city recently, as persona non grata.  How can it be?

The short version of events is that PSG were eliminated because neither did enough running around against Real Madrid to prevent their elimination.  This is a bit unfair.  A shark is a shark.  If you swim with one, you should know how it will behave.

When it comes to energy, Messi, for all his exalted status, is more Charlie Nicholas than Frank McGarvey.  His Brazilian protégée, Neymar, was always going to behave like his master.  Maybe Messi’s game would be hampered, if he put in the hard miles, I doubt he ever found out.

I also doubt Leo has seen the best of Paris: the Tower, Montmartre, Sacre Coeur.  No matter how long he stays, he will remain an unknown recluse, inevitably leaving behind fans who wonder what they were initially thinking.  Still, booing your own after a defeat?  It’s not a good look.   A PSG decline, without the prize they really want, seems inevitable.

It hurt when Bodo/Glimt taught us a lesson home and away last month.  Having already eliminated AZ Alkmaar from one European competition this season, we would feel hopeful of doing so again, if we faced them in the Conference League, instead of Bogo/Glimt.

There are compensations, primarily our hunt for the league title.  Instead of journeys to Netherlands, all the focus at Lennoxtown this week is on facing Ross County at Celtic Park on Saturday.  It has been a while since we were this confident.

  1. The red star forwards are going past the hun with ease , it’s just they couldn’t hit a coo on the erse with a shovel

We need an independent audit by the UK Government to find out where the £5 billion went.

This looks like fraud on a massive scale. https://t.co/mJG91gXQtF https://twitter.com/AgentP22/status/1504421089069383683?s=20&t=eImkPJ6EKd5ab9GvcF9kXA

This is the blog that had probably the largest volume from contributors, when the Rangers tax case etc, was the runaway narrative, probably on the entire internet. Everything related to the Rangers corruption was scrutinized to death, rightly so. A person, or person’s must have had a quite considerable degree of hatred, yes let’s call it hatred, for Celtic, and Celtic supporters, to construct, then execute such a sordid cheating campaign, it would be far easier to count who wasn’t involved in that scam in 2012.

We had the Ibrox club, and a local SNP govt. £5 BILLION HAS GONE MISSING 👆 ??

And no media siren calls from, STVnews, or BBCScotNews, like last season they let it be known that,..

“Rangers need £11 million to see out the season!!” Then Celtic fc blew 10 in a row??

That is what the media said in autumn 2020.

No more “leaks” about Rangers needing cash??

    Hmmmm??

  3. And please don’t go hitting coos on the erse with a shovel that would be cruel , and you might break your shovel .😁😁😜😜

  4. Huns are defensively well organized, very physical with Bassey, Goldson, Balogun, Lundstram and Jack, play the ball out calmly in triangles, and dive at every opportunity. McGregor has saved them a few times but the ball is often headed or shot right at him. Red Star have blown it, but one can hope.

  5. Rennes now 2-1 up on Leicester and down 2-3 on aggregate. Should be an interesting last 8 minutes.

  6. Not five thousand. Not even ‘just’ five million.

We’re talking about £5 BILLION quid here, that can’t be accounted for.

  7. The Huns` results against European teams would suggest that they are far a better side than many Celtic supporters would like to admit. They are a decent side. I believe we are better but there is not much in it. Aribo and Kent are very good players.

  8. Eindhoven 8- Copenhagen 4 . Unbelievable.

Switched over to Alkmaar Bodo extra time.

  9. What is the assessment of our surrent european prowess and what are our aspirations?

There seems to be a desire to win the league then consider european success thereafter.

I’m not sure I fully understand why and how we can separate the two?

    Is there a difference?

Many people are influenced by many other people in many walks of life. Would you accept that you are influenced by Sceptical Citizen,Kev J and one or two others?

I would guess that the money that comes from winning the League is needed before we can realistically hope to improve in Europe. What do you think?

  12. My money is on the Huns drawing Sporting Braga in the quarters, a team they have beaten recently.

Indeed fella….over the 2 legs…stats for Red Star below.

1st leg – 15 shots + 4 on target (3 goals chalked off for offside)

    2nd leg – 17 shots + 13 on target

When Red Star played with energy the Huns were no match. As we know from that world wind at CP.

With players coming back for us and the Huns travel adventures, that’s the strategy.

That’s a very valid point and would indeed make league then euro improvement incremental.

I do see the 2 as being linked and maybe not quite as mutually exclusive as we often allow ourselves to think.

Hopefully, we win the league and get to see this model in reality
