Hard work, fans and Celtic with focus

I love Paris, the food, the sights, the people, the atmosphere of the place.  So it came as a surprise when I watched Messi and Neymar booed by their own PSG fans after their elimination from the Champions League.  The greatest of all time and a talented show pony, both the toast of the city recently, as persona non grata.  How can it be?

The short version of events is that PSG were eliminated because neither did enough running around against Real Madrid to prevent their elimination.  This is a bit unfair.  A shark is a shark.  If you swim with one, you should know how it will behave.

When it comes to energy, Messi, for all his exalted status, is more Charlie Nicholas than Frank McGarvey.  His Brazilian protégée, Neymar, was always going to behave like his master.  Maybe Messi’s game would be hampered, if he put in the hard miles, I doubt he ever found out.

I also doubt Leo has seen the best of Paris: the Tower, Montmartre, Sacre Coeur.  No matter how long he stays, he will remain an unknown recluse, inevitably leaving behind fans who wonder what they were initially thinking.  Still, booing your own after a defeat?  It’s not a good look.   A PSG decline, without the prize they really want, seems inevitable.

It hurt when Bodo/Glimt taught us a lesson home and away last month.  Having already eliminated AZ Alkmaar from one European competition this season, we would feel hopeful of doing so again, if we faced them in the Conference League, instead of Bogo/Glimt.

There are compensations, primarily our hunt for the league title.  Instead of journeys to Netherlands, all the focus at Lennoxtown this week is on facing Ross County at Celtic Park on Saturday.  It has been a while since we were this confident.

    Why bother.

If I may steal Bankiebhoy’s phrase Nutter’s, multi moniker, sleekits talking to themselves about others.

    Trying to start squabbles.

Stuff they would not say to a Celtic supporter face to face.

  2. Bejaus, fuds galore make it so easy to read back!

As I said hours ago, engaging with them makes them feel relevant and rekindles their efforts to destroy this once meritous site. Ignore, continue as if they had (multi-) posted not at all, and eventually they will get fed up talking to themselves.

You will never EVER change their minds through debate because they have no Intenton of debating/discussing. They are hun fuds who, at this moment, are doing exactly what they hope to do. Break up a great Tim website that offered the opportunity for reasonable discourse, and no little humour, among good Celtic supporters.

THAT’S what sticks in their craw!

I could describe your inability to spell my moniker correctly as dyslexia, but that would be a leap, wouldn’t it?

Your leap in judgment and interpretation of criticism of poor play or lack of skill as ‘misery’ is risible, and your suggestion that I go and watch the Huns is absurd.

So what that only one of 8 Europa quarterfinalists have a chance to win their domestic league.

    Utterly irrelevant.

    Bodo/Glimt beat Alkmaar.

    Didn’t see that one coming.

I wonder if I misjudged them earlier and they are actually a very good football team?

  6. Colin Murray, the Irishman from the North, with the Scottish name never fails to amaze me, and does not disappoint on his Radio 5 slot tonight with his belated, (for St Patrick) Irish playlist. And what riches to be found, the Fields of course, Coney Island from Van the Man, Dirty Old Town (really about Salford but offtimes about Dublin, Johnny Cash, Don McLean, The Pogues, the Saw Doctors, our own Jim Kerr, Stiff Little Fingers, Thin Lizzy and the greatest of them all Luke Kelly singing Raglan Road, and more to come. Liverpool fan through and through but never without enthusiasm when he mentions the mighty Celtic. Best show I’ve heard on the radio today.

  7. That was a quick browse through the blog tonight.

surely Paul67 can check the IP address of who created each account

If the same IP address has more than 1 account then every account

attached to the IP address should be deleted and the IP address blocked

I get the point someone said about other topics being discussed

on this blog apart from Celtic and it will keep it interesting but surely

this is a Celtic blog first and foremost and Celtic conversations

should be the most talked about topic

  11. Woohoo flights booked tickets for the Celtic end of the Sydney super cup as Celtic take on “the rangers” or, if they surrender before the game, a big team who are not dependent on money laundering. Can’t wait to have a few guinesses doon the Rocks before seeing Celtic. Might never happen again in my lifetime so did not grudge it. Hail Hail

This site will die soon, I’m already looking at other sites for Celtic news. Sad as I’ve been on here for well over a decade for that purpose.

Doesn’t stop me coming on but its more scrolling than it should be😕

I heard him talking about it on an earlier show. It sounded like a good playlist, the Saw Doctors and Stiff Little Fingers were mentioned . I think the idea was that all the songs had to mention a specific place name in Ireland.

  16. BIG JIMMY has no chance of getting back on the blog as PAUL won’t be dictated to.

Who does that remind you of?

  17. Does Big Jimmy not have access to any other sites where he could post his stuff? Maybe sites with house rules that he finds more to his taste?
