Hartson late mea cupla

827

I’m sure Ronny Deila is delighted to have the backing of John Harton, now he doesn’t need it.  John’s attachment to the club is not in doubt, nor should a new manager want unquestioning support from anyone, but some clubs reach a point when they become unmanageable.  Influential voices collaborate with perma-upset media and fans to expose shoots of recovery to a winter frost.

The mea culpa, when it arrives, is often too late.

Save us from the click bait that is suggesting Craig Gordon is a ‘target’ for some or other English club.  Derk Boerrigter is interesting Real Madrid, honest, they’ve been watching him with the Development Squad.

I’ve been waiting for weeks on someone to ask the question: if a club accepts money on the condition that the lender has the right to appoint two directors, in the event the club removes those directors, do you reckon that would be a breach of the terms of the loan?

I’d be extremely worried if a well-intentioned, but nonetheless, baying mob chased away the last independent director of my club.  Many Germans celebrated the Armistice, thinking a conclusion to hostilities had been agreed.  Months later they learned the terms left them bereft of land, defensive capabilities, capital equipment, authority and self-respect.  What seemed like an end to the trauma only set in motion far greater horrors.

Our good friends at Magners have offered two premium seat tickets for tomorrow’s game at Celtic Park.  To win, email me the name of the team we’re playing at celticquicknews@gmail.com

Competition closes at 5pm tonight.  If you would like to help build a school kitchen for 909 hungry kids for Mary’s Meals in Malawi while entering the competition, you can donate £1 here.  Thank you.

I think Ronny will make changes for tonight’s game, some forced some unforced. Armstrong & Commons went off injured at the weekend so probably shouldn’t be considered. GMS can’t play for the next 2 games so need to bed someone else in. Not sure what the score is with Izzy, broken finger ? would imagine he would be available to play. JG is supposedly injured as well, thigh strain so stick with LG. Will be a totally different line up from Saturday with only the spine remaining…

We’ve won every home league game 4-0 this year, that will do for me…

Ronny Deila’s focus on fitness pays off as his lean Celtic stars race towards a Treble

    08:35, 4 March 2015 By Gary Ralston

Jeff Holmes/PA WireCeltic manager Ronny Deila celebrates in the wake of the win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park

CELTIC boss Ronny Deila has revealed he is already gearing up for a Champions League run – and a run, and a run, and a run.

The Norwegian is in a rush to take Celtic to the highest level and has the stats to prove his players are also picking up the pace in their bid to reach

    the top.

The Hoops will not compete with Europe’s elite on their fitness levels alone but Deila insists it will be the foundation of any success they may one day enjoy.

He points to six wins in the SPFL after their last six European games this season as proof positive his side are on message and heading in the right direction – and quickly.

    VIEW GALLERY

He has also hailed the athletic endeavours of new players, such as Gary Mackay-Steven, who are keen to make an impact and warned others he has the stats at hand to prove why they are not worth a place in his starting line-up.

Deila questioned the fitness level of his whole squad in his first few weeks in the job but now they’re lean machines who look primed to over-run all domestic resistance.

Celtic threaten to head over the horizon in the league this evening as a win at home to St Johnstone in their game in hand over Aberdeen will take them nine points clear with just 11 matches left to play.

And Deila said: “The most important thing is the players and everyone around them sees that what we are doing is effective.

“We have had six victories after European games this season and that’s really good.

“You don’t see that around the other European leagues. Inter Milan lost at the weekend and they are struggling a lot after Europe, so we did well to win in that way.

“We have increased the high intensity running by 30 to 40 per cent since summer, which is a lot.

“We want to be direct, create, penetrate, be a high pressing team, so you have to run and you have to run quickly and you see that in the stats and in how we perform.

“Rodrigo Palacio, the Inter striker, ran for 1250 metres against us at Celtic Park at high intensity. That’s an incredible number. But on Sunday, Gary Mackay-Steven ran 1300m against Aberdeen.

“We now compare to the better Champions League teams in terms of our figures and we have to find benchmarks. Where are we good? Where can we be better? That way we can be as prepared as possible if we get to the Champions League.

Ronnie right on the ball.Incredible stats about GMS.We are in safe hands with RD.His professionalism shines through every time he speaks.

A few takeaway establishments in Falkirk got in bother a few years ago for apparently putting cheaper types of meat in their curry’s but selling it as the more expensive lamb.

Whatever the hacks are getting is not lamb and its certainly not succulent.

Appologies to Weefra for mentioning lamb curry….oops :)

When we look at the detail Ronny uses before making decisions, it might invalidate the view that we are all entitled to our opinions. For the sake of harmony, I will say that we are entitled to them but they are only worthwhile if we can substantiate them as Ronny can.

    Wonderful!

  15. Happy Fergus Day to all. A timely reminder why our club finds itself in such a strong position today, and why our former rivals were liquidated. Also worth noting that at the time the same ‘sorts’ who had the knives out for RD at the beginning of this season also tried to destabilise Fergus in the early days of his tenure. They failed then and have since failed to knobble RD. Both of these men have character, vision, a plan and exection model that works.

I can totally get the frustration felt by the millions of folk, generally 20-30 year olds who feel disenfranchised from the politics of the big party’s.

Just this morning, it has been announced 20-30 year olds get 7% less income than they did in 2010, that’s a shocking announcement during what Osborne trumpets that we’re in a recovery.

Again, I totally get 100% some on here saying we should be spending loads of money on great things that would benefit people who need proper food/homes/health care.

An uncomfortable fact of life is that, as a nation we do not vote for parties who want to raise tax. Pre-nu- Labour, old Labour tried asking the nation to accept 1-2p increase in income tax to pay for all the goodies in their well left of centre manifesto’s, result……years in opposition.

It’ll be different in Scotland I hear you shout…….Will it?

Scotland is also conservative with a small-c when it comes to the rub. Pre-Thatcher there were 19 Tory MP’s returned in Scotland, there were a couple of Liberals and a rump of SNP.

The disappearance of the Tory’s in Scotland post Thatcher spookily coincided with the rise in fortunes of the SNP. The SNP outwith Glasgow and Dundee are not best pleased at the lurch to the left of their party during the Indy ref, they are not called Tartan Tory’s for nothing, Salmond was advised as such by the SNP rank and file in his own neck of the woods.

Because the people of Britain (Scotland included) refused to stump up income tax, Nu-Labour were heralded into power BECAUSE they basically lied and said they would follow the Tory spending policy’s.

The Labour Party actually DID follow the Tory spending policy but introduced what later became known as ‘stealth taxes’ to pay for £19 BILLION pounds per year EVERY year on top of the annual spend on NHS to absolutely transform the dilapidated hospitals and surgeries inherited from 18 years of Thatcherism.

The same goes for schools and Universities, towns have been transformed from sleepy hollows to vibrant student towns and the allied support infrastructure (accommodation/eateries/entertainment) as up to 40% of our kids gained access to higher ed.

This massive uptake in demand for education cannot be shouldered by normal taxation. It is not unreasonable to ask kids to start paying back WHEN THEY START EARNING £21,000 a year.

The Labour Party also engaged with Private Health care. It had to to get the inherited waiting lists (2 and a half years to even see a consultant) down to a reasonable time.

Mistakes were made with PPI, I don’t think the correct people were negotiating some of these.

Illegal wars? I think you’ll find there was a vote in Parliament.

Should Saddam Hussain have been allowed to go south into Saudi after he had slaughtered the marsh Arabs in the south of Iraq and invaded Kuwait? I’d like an answer to this if you are going to shoot down my post on this topic alone, tell me what YOU would have done to stop him.

We certainly know he had weapons of mass destruction because we (the west) had given him them.

Labour has made mistakes but I’d rather have a bumbling Labour government (not that that’s what I’d prefer) than what we have.

FWIW,I supported the effort to get rid of Saddam Hussein. For pretty much the reasons you state. Many people did, though many didn’t.

Sanctions on his regime weren’t working against his regime-only against the people of Iraq.

What I didn’t realise was that we went into a war without an exit strategy. And while it was obvious that we would be a junior partner to the US,nor did I realise that we would be a subservient one.

That it finally did for Blair,I can take comfort from. For what it has done to the reputation of the UK in the eyes of much of the world, certainly not so much.

That it may be seen as the nail in the coffin of The Labour Party-the only chance the working class, underprivileged, infirm, etc could rely on-really breaks my heart.

Labour has to find a way back into its supporters’ hearts and minds. Tick tock,I’m afraid.
