Hatate, Rogic doubts will influence forward selection

189

With Japan already qualified for the World Cup, it is more likely Reo Hatate will feature in their home game against Vietnam, which kicks off tomorrow morning UK time.  Whether he plays or not, Reo will have a burdensome journey back eight time zones to reach Glasgow.  Even perfectly rested, it remains a huge ask to get his body clock adjusted for the weekend.

Daizen Maeda endured that journey last month ahead of the same opponents we face on Sunday.  Ange Postecoglou started the player on the bench, preferring the then out of favour Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Selection for left mid is likely to be Ange’s biggest worry this week.  We are likely to see no more than 60 minutes from whoever starts there.  The lack of certainty is likely to influence who plays left of the front three.  I expect the more industrious Daizen Maeda than Jota.

The spfl champions 2018-19 received 44 yellow cards and 3 red cards. The champions 2020-2021 received 26 yellows and no reds after 33 games – there is a clear bias.

    I don’t identify problems — U18 / Youth Academy poor performance.

    I just report them — 9th in a 9 team league / 4 wins from 22 games.

    Simply not good enough.

    —————————————————

You must surely be aware that you have done more than merely report a disappointing position in a league table.

You have interpreted this as a sign of, not just failure but “disgrace” to that team and our history.

You have decided, on the basis of no more information and insight than a league table, that it is down to “a lack of effort”.

You provide no information on whether our players are performing well or badly or whether they are playing against an age cohort that is older than them. You have just drawn conclusions from the league table.

In fact , you even said that, if we were testing younger players at an older age group, then we should not because we have a B team, just as Sevco have, so if they don’t do that we shouldn’t either. What if it is actually good for their development, though obviously not good for current results in the not very prestigious u-18 table, to do so?

    Now- you may be right.

Maybe it is a disaster, a cringe fest and a disgrace to be 8th in what is a 9 team league. Maybe it is a gross under performance. Maybe we are playing players with the same average age as all the teams that are higher in the league. With evidence such as that, I would be prepared to join in with your assessment of this age group and their coaches.

But, you do not provide the information on which to make that assessment. You have, in fact, pre-prepared reasons for this perceived failure- the usual jibes about Wags at St. Ninian’s and the boys being more interested in things other than their football development, all based on nothing but unreliable scuttlebutt from a source you think has accurate info.

Now, Ange when he is reviewing the coaches at this level WILL be asking questions, but the first question he will ask is, are we developing good habits and performance levels from the players so that they have a chance of getting to the B team and , from there, to the Senior Squad. What he won’t be asking first is “why aren’t we winning the league?”

Because he is a development coach and not a junior trophy hunter.

Now, as I said, I agree with you, that the U-18 league table looks bad but there are so many questions to ask and data to obtain before you take that prima facie evidence as proof of failure. Barry Hepburn is 18, Liam Morrison is 18 and Josh Adam is 18. All three were poached form that Celtic age group by Bayern Munich (Morrison & Hepburn) and Man City (Adam). Their serious professional scouts did not say these players were playing with a team that was a disgrace and under coaches who were not making an effort to develop them; instead they tapped them and signed them as good future prospects. They did not count their medals; they assessed their potential by observing them play. Did you or the KDS poster ever see the team play or the coaches coach?

Surely, there is a minimum standard to evidence gathering before you have any confidence in your conclusions.

In our B team at the moment are Ben Summers (not 18 until July), Rocco Vata (not 17 till next month), Dylan Corr- 17 last week, Tsoanelo Lets- not 18 till June, Bruno Davidson- not 18 till next month and, until recently Ben Doak who is not yet 16 and a half. We could play these boys at the lower level and pick up more trophies but would it be at the expense of their future development?

That is a question that should cause us to paise for thought and then do more research before drawing any certain conclusions.

Your questions are legitimate. Your hasty conclusions – much less so.

Dismiss all this with jibes about cringe thinking and excuses but analyses need to be informed, and they need to be able to show their workings.

The referee discussion, what about the ref who had his back to the penalty box when a rangers player takes a dive, the ref quickly wheels round and without a clue as to what had just happened points to the spot,

there are heaps more but that one stands out.

The mainstream media lodge are liars, about everything.

Celtic supporters who spread these lies from these media lodges aren’t a part of the solution

these Celtic supporters who suck the lies of media lodge

are the ENTIRETY OF THE PROBLEM.

  8. Anyone who thinks referees won’t have an influence is not clever.

We had a great team in the sixties. So good that we won the European cup.

Almost every game we lost in this country during this time we were cheated.

what about the ref who had his back to the penalty box when a rangers player takes a dive, the ref quickly wheels round and without a clue as to what had just happened points to the spot,

My guess is that he heard the linesman telling him on his earpiece that it was a foul in the box and a penalty to Rangers.

I’m not saying the decision was justified or not. I’m just amazed that it has been commented on here on a more or less weekly basis, accusing Collum of awarding a penalty for an incident he had his back to, as if the posters are blissfully unaware that referees and assistants are wired up specifically for such incidents.

Scotland / Britain is a midden.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FO8pyZ3WYAIyMtf?format=jpg&name=large 👇 that no one else has the ball, ethics, or integrity to offer.

Britain has a majority of deliberately neglected areas, Glasgow hosts the three3 worst rat infested areas in Britain, yet all we here is we need to bring tens, hundreds, of thousands more people to live here??

There was a genocide on the island of Ireland in the 1840’s NOT a famine, but genocide, which forced millions to flee all over the world, a huge amount came to Scotland, especially to Glasgow, the naked hate filled environment which greeted the Irish refugees on arrival in Glasgow, forced the refugees to quickly become comrades who’d get each others back, forging the character that would embolden these refugees, to create, Glasgow Celtic, and here we are, some of the descendants of those refugees.

Thing is, what the media calls ( refugees ) might be something else entirely??

    Who knows??

Has the media told anybody who is stupid enough to watch it, that these refugees are fleeing from the actual, ( Nazis ) who were planted into Ukr, to run Ukr into the ground by Obama’s govt in 2014, over throwing an already sitting, and democratically elected Ukr President, who was NOT of an imperialist mindset, SO, this Ukr President had to be overthrown, and replaced by, trained , financed, and propagandized, western imperialist forces??

If the media didn’t tell you these FACts then how are YOU supposed to know the TRUTH about, Ukr, or anywhere else, when you choose PROVEN LIARS as your news sources??

Then you repeat those media lodge lies to other folk and MISINFORM them as well??

What is wrong with someone who believes media lodge lies??

Are they, lazy, weak, deceitful, what can it be??

Any Celtic supporter who doesn’t realise that, deploying the Celtic supporter hater from SSB, Gerry McCulloch, and you, 53,000 just accept a Celtic executive who employs a former media snake, and give him the top job at Celtic TV??

What we are witnessing is an era were Celtic fc is supported by, 53,000 season ticket holders who’s present practices, since 1994, actually, create a reputation that says….

    “WE ARE CELTIC SUPPORTERS

    WE STAND FOR NOTHING

    AND WE FALL FOR EVERYTHING.”

    In a nutshell CSC

  16. Paul67,

I’d play GG, Jota and Maeda for sure on Sunday, IMO. With some serious firepower to come aff the bench.

I’m sure Ange is relishing picking his team in the most HOSTILE of places.

Jota’s crossing has been excellent lately, inside or out.

  17. Go tell the Spartim

Nae idea about the National teams staff mate. As you alluded to, Toronto was traditionally controlled by the OO. If he’s a bigot or racist, I’m sure he’ll be found out soon in a very PC society – unlike the pathetic excuses for journalists, protected by bigoted editors in the SMSM.

  21. By and large, the MIBs are of the Dallas standard, that is common, or garden variety currants……….

error-prone teddies with a wholly natural bias towards the staunch…………..

They mostly inhabit the shallow end of a poorly maintained gene-pool overly stocked by would-be gallant boatmen, who steadfastly keep Scottish football in the doldrums…………………

Celtica have every right to eye these throwbacks with very real suspicion.

It is very much to Scotland’s Shame that in this day and age, Celtic still has to be much much better, than hundom to get a victory over thems.
