Hatate, Rogic doubts will influence forward selection

189

With Japan already qualified for the World Cup, it is more likely Reo Hatate will feature in their home game against Vietnam, which kicks off tomorrow morning UK time.  Whether he plays or not, Reo will have a burdensome journey back eight time zones to reach Glasgow.  Even perfectly rested, it remains a huge ask to get his body clock adjusted for the weekend.

Daizen Maeda endured that journey last month ahead of the same opponents we face on Sunday.  Ange Postecoglou started the player on the bench, preferring the then out of favour Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Selection for left mid is likely to be Ange’s biggest worry this week.  We are likely to see no more than 60 minutes from whoever starts there.  The lack of certainty is likely to influence who plays left of the front three.  I expect the more industrious Daizen Maeda than Jota.

  1. 3 bookings each the highlight of this Montenegro – Greece borefest so far. The Liverpool left back Tsimikas looks the best player on the park. One sub for home team, none for Greece so far.

  2. Most huns think that the refs are against them and favour us ☺ weird

Off topic but watched a documentary called “Ukraine on Fire” which was produced by Oliver Stone and has him interviewing people. Interesting stuff.

    HH 🍀

  3. Most huns read the rekord, listen to Shortie, have the instincts o’ wee Chic, the insights of Big Voidy and “walter’s” sense of entitlement……………..so, nae wunner…………………..

  4. Tackling from Montenegro defence is agricultural. Hope Gia survives this. Tactics now switched to crossing for Gia. 2 more Greek subs made by Poyet.

  5. Greeks only able to find Gia once in 20 minutes. Looks totally isolated. 10 minutes to go.

  6. Greek free kick with 4 minutes to go.

    Poor kick.

    Time wasting in Podgorica now.

  7. Very frustrating 30 minutes for Gia. One touch, a diving header. That was it, but he did get a wee runabout, with no injuries. Abysmal game. First win in a year for home team.

As long as Gia is safe job done.

  9. Once again Bill Leckie telling it straight today!! OK, he’s not a Celtic sycophant, nor, is he an Ibrox one. He calls it as he sees it – I like that!

    FFS!!!!!!!! :O(

  11. Bobby Davidson, JRP Gordon, Jim McCluskey, Leslie Mottram, and Andrew Waddell. Just a few refs from the past who applied the rules of the game fairly across the board. Unless one of the teams played in green and white hoops.

The baton has certainly been passed to quite a few of the current crop. Not paranoia, just 60 years of evidence. And counting.
