Hatate, Rogic doubts will influence forward selection

189

With Japan already qualified for the World Cup, it is more likely Reo Hatate will feature in their home game against Vietnam, which kicks off tomorrow morning UK time.  Whether he plays or not, Reo will have a burdensome journey back eight time zones to reach Glasgow.  Even perfectly rested, it remains a huge ask to get his body clock adjusted for the weekend.

Daizen Maeda endured that journey last month ahead of the same opponents we face on Sunday.  Ange Postecoglou started the player on the bench, preferring the then out of favour Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Selection for left mid is likely to be Ange’s biggest worry this week.  We are likely to see no more than 60 minutes from whoever starts there.  The lack of certainty is likely to influence who plays left of the front three.  I expect the more industrious Daizen Maeda than Jota.

Calum McGregor spoke a couple of weeks ago about his mask and said he had to wear it for another 2 or 3 weeks.

I think all the Celtic supporters concerned about the referee should go to bed at 12 noon on Sunday, take a sleeping pill and set the alarm for 2pm.

It’s obviously too much for such delicate constitutions.

    Shame.

  4. What I hate most about Collum’s displays is the lack of basic understanding of the game. Yes he knows the rules but doesn’t understand the game, for example every time Morelos goes to ground on Sunday Willie will blow for a foul. He looks to me like someone who never played the game so does not know the difference between a tackle and a leg breaker, or a push and a dive.

He is always influenced by histrionics and assumes the more screaming and rolling about indicates a worse tackle, he is hopeless.

Kent and Morelos will spend all day going down easy looking for free kicks.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a very soft penalty for the huns resulting in a red card for Starfelt.

  5. I’ll take Collum over some of the alternatives.

With Collum, incompetence is likely but the sinister decisions a little less likely.

I do think his incompetence will be limited to our players as he will be intimidated to make a controversial call against thems….

I never have and never will bet against Celtic, just couldn’t do it.

Agree re Collum. Incompetent and won’t do us any favours, nor would I want him to.

However he will let them away with murder and give us nothing as he wants to keep his cushy wee job.

  8. TexasTim on 29th March 2022 11:57 am

I agree that’s my concern, he starts giving Morelos and Kent fouls early and eventually it escalates to dangerous free kicks and yellow cards. He is easily fooled.

Me neither. Betting on the ref’s behaviour might be considered a bit of a grey area.

  10. Weebobbycollins on

I agree with TMcL, the paranoia regards the referee is over the top. Incompetency will be the worry, not bias.

  11. Back to Basics.

If you take your finger and run it along the rim of the eye socket, the fracture I believe is along the bone(at the bit we point to,to denote being brainy)

The bone there is where the skull is at its thinnest.all we can do is let time heal it,standard times,6 weeks would be laid down and hopefully Calum will get thro this period unhindered,it may take more time but it wouldn’t surprise me if he is targeted a la boydi! I think Calum will have it on during games.

Collum’s attitude to any form of dissent stinks, regardless of whether it’s Celtic v Rangers or Albion Rovers v Stenhousemuir.

Question one of his decisions and his whole body goes rigid as he points at the player and growls with staring eyes and petted lip.

I believe he’s a schoolteacher, yes? That makes sense.

    Cannae SEE that happening…….

  14. If we all bet on dubious refereeing decisions and celtic win would the Sfa look at irregular bets on the match and declare that the match should be replayed?

    Phil.

  15. I really want Starfelt to score from a corner. Been close so many times and he got some stick at Ibrox last time for the goal (Christie’s fault in my opinion)

i also think they will sit in a bit and play on the break so no low percentage passes from us.

Could be decided on a set piece this one

    SCEPTICAL CITIZEN

Transexuality/gender is not a new phenomenon, physically, mentally or emotionally. Been around since Adam and Eve/big bang

The Big Bang was 13.8 billion years ago.

The first humans walked the earth 2.4 million years ago.

There was no Adam & Eve.

    You’re welcome.

  17. A big well done to our very own Reo Hatate. First Japanese cap and subbed ‘tactically’ at half time.

A definite boost for any other Japanese stars we might be looking at.

Now get home fella. You’ve some more hunskelping to do on Sunday…

  18. BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 29TH MARCH 2022 10:20 AM

Adam King’s brutal, and still unpunished, assault on our captain took place more than 9 weeks ago?

B2B, said at the time that the assault on Calum was the worse of the two assaults on our players (Ideguchi getting his ankle stamped was the other of course), yet so little was made of it. It was a disgustingly cowardly foul, with Calum concentrating on the ball in the air and King flying recklessly towards and into Calum’s face. There is no way you can defend or brace yourself for that kind of assault, as well the Alloa player knew!

  19. Sorted; home on the Sat to see my parents/sort the odd jobs, DIY; Sunday train to Glasgow for game; stay over to avoid travelling with huns roaming; and home early Monday

    Quick question:

what is the safe method of getting to Hampden from town when playing them? I’m hoping that i follow the crowd on the way back

  20. Tom McLaughlin on

    CONEYBHOY

Safest bet is a taxi from city centre.

Or get the train from Glasgow Central. Segregated queues at separate platforms for different trains to different stations. Safety in numbers.

  21. Thanks Tom; train to King’s park sounds good. Hopefully get a pint in the Beechwood before the game!!
