Contrast this with the utter joy when we signed Koki Mizuno, who was full-on exotic, but built for finer things then competitive football.
At 29, Aberdeen’s Irish international midfielder, Jonny Hayes is certainly unimaginative, and may be comparatively cheap, but he’s also a low-risk option for Celtic, who will know what they could get (and what they will not get) from the player.
With Patrick Roberts due to report to Manchester City on his return from holiday, Celtic are short of options for right-mid, with the first Champions League qualifier only five weeks away. The manager will view this gap in his squad as an unnecessary risk to next season’s objectives.

Unbeknownst to many Johnny Hayes is an ‘alleged’ member of Dublin & Wicklow LOL 1313 and is a regular attendee at their annual July ‘sash bash’. He has posted many inflammatory comments about Celtic and Brendan Rodgers on his Twitter account. His potential signing for ‘The Tims’ has not gone down well in Dublin and there is talk of his Sash wearing licence being revoked by Dublin’s enraged loyalist community. This of course is all alleged and has been gleaned from many differing sources none of which are reputable. The same sources have also alleged that Celtic FC will indeed strengthen their playing squad for an assualt on the CL during this transfer window with at least 2 proven CL quality players being signed for lots of money.

Johnny Hayes is a player who offers plenty.
In a testing game, let’s say a CL qualifier, Hayes will provide more defensive ability than Paddy or Jamesie.
Roberts is undoubtedly better going forward.

Absolutely the case… but you’ve probably seen more of Hayes than Forrest..
Seriously though…James Forrest has been excellent this (1st half) of the season. He has super acceleration that shows on Bigger stages. Nobody doubts his potential.. But he’s getting old to be a prospect.
I’d wager over next season Hayes would get more pitch time domestically. He’s just a more consistent if less glamorous player. Over a season more effective domestically.. Although far less likely to shine in Europe.
For me it both not either or.

Looks like next seasons “escaped goat ” has a early front runner, and he’s not even a Celtic player (yet).
He’s a good fast winger who tracks back can play on the left or right side and can score goals , but but but ach you know the rest.

There are many reasons why someone would be in that state. Not all of them are drink or drug related. The police will have known that,didn’t stop them though.
As you say,he needs help. But how do you help someone who had it all,and has lost it all,including his kids.
