For a man in his 70s, Martin O’Neill is a model human specimen. He looks like he eats his exact calorific requirement each day and has never fallen below the 10,000 daily steps we are advised to take.
There is, however, a time in life when health issues and their subsequent treatments become a regular thing. For most, this happens a lot younger than Martin’s current age of 74. Expectations and plans need to be calibrated accordingly.
21 years ago he put health first, surely one of the best decisions he has ever made. I hope he takes whatever time necessary to fully recover.
Best wishes from the CQN community, Martin.

🇨🇮 Best wishes to Martin O’Neill 🇨🇮 get well soon.
Good luck Martin
All the best, Martin. Take care of yourself.
Good afternoon all from Ruglen. Best wishes Martin for your recovery 👍
We all wish our manager a speedy and quick recovery, a recovery which would be assisted if wild ignorant speculation wasn’t indulged in
Plenty of other stories to indulge with gossip around transfers
A strange source it being Andy Halliday, but in fairness he is quoting Stephen Welsh
Yet Andy Halliday told Open Goal, hours before Bernardo’s loan move was confirmed, that Stephen Welsh, who he played with at Motherwell, used to tell him that the Portuguese midfielder was ‘one of the best in training every day.’
Paul Slane: “It is a strange one with Bernardo, isn’t it? (lack of game time).”
Halliday: “He wouldn’t mind me saying it now, because he isn’t there. But I don’t know if you are the same, but I just ask questions all the time about players and teams.
“Stephen Welsh used to rave about Paulo Bernardo. He used to say that he was one of the best in training every day.”
aff oot
Best Wishes Martin – he is super-fit for his age, so a good recovery is on the cards.
One of my obsessions at the moment is “healthspan”
Like lifespan it is about how long you live – yet with an emphasis on a healthy life in older age rather than just longevity…
A lot of stuff out there on this, and some of it is way out there…
To uncommon sense advise from folk like Dr. Rhonda Patrick and Dr. Andrew Huberman.
To Bryan Johnson – a biohacker who reputably spends $20 mn per annum to reverse age…
A interesting thing that came up with recently with a Dr., can’t remember who…
Suggested if we can live for another ten years, the advances in medical science in that time will mean that is actually equivalent another thirty years!?
Still – Healthspan is well worth considering as we get older…
Hail Hail
Supporting Celtic can be bad for ones health – especially during the transfer window.

Common theme and same excuses always.
If Martin Oneill is getting the same answers as Brendan Rogers was asking for a few quality players to be added to the squad ,only to be told no more players coming to play for Celtic, then Martin should tell Desmond well im leaving ,anyway hope Martin is recovering from his operation.
Expectations and plans need to be calibrated accordingly.
Well we have a proven track record at planning for the future.
Good grief.
Seems Everton looking elsewhere for a RB,as we can’t agree a fee
“I hope he takes whatever time necessary to fully recover”
Well said Paul.
As for those who ostensibly couch their support for Martin’s recovery …
… while using his illness simply as a preliminary to then conflate with their own pre-existing agendas?
Beneath contempt.

Ref AJ and Everton.
Same situation as facing us with Oviedo and Paderborn and Torino and Frosione.
Things change from January but from now players agreeing terms doesn’t matter as much as clubs approving their deal.
All the very best to the legend Martin O’Neill
Mon the MON
so,
tell you what I am bored with already.
A shared narrative across all platforms and podcasts – playing Camilo Duran as a wide right attacker somehow was a wrong thing to do and made him ineffective.
Quick scan of his goals on youtube, and a wee AI response says this –
Cutting Inside from the Right: Because he is left-footed but frequently operates as a right-sided hybrid striker or right winger, he likes to drive at defenders from the flank, push them deep, and cut inside to unleash a shot.
While wishing MON a healthy, speedy recovery, I’m actually quite comfy with wee Shaun and his mates marshalling operations (no pun meant) in Martin’s absence – but will it cause pending transfer prospects to think twice (it;s just another day for you and me in Paradise).
On the media beat-up atween Broony and Granty, I think Broony’s slur was unnecessary and the Pointer handled it with restraint and class. Sure, Broony was emblematic of the strength of a winning side, but I never saw Granty slouched in a kebab-scented stupor when supposedly a club ambassador.
Sometimes a ned isn’t always a non-executive director.

Yes. Quite. Couple that with all the “anecdotes” from Di Broony appearing in the garbage media, I for one am not looking forward to his er memoir. From a former Celtic Captain….
Not Good
29 quid for the LASK game?
is there a catch?
thats as cheap as chips.
and much cheaper than the chips in the stadium!
If we don’t sell, nobody is coming in by the look of it,the money is staying in the bank ,to pay for no European football for next couple of seasons IMO, the rainy day….it wouldn’t happen if we were smarter and more pragmatic in the transfer market, but accountants don’t speculate to accumulate
Meanwhile an email telling me the new Adidas Celtic golf clothing is out today…
Roll up, roll up!! New Celtic golf range on sale!!
Roll up, roll up (again)! CL Playoff tickets on sale!!
Roll up, roll up (again)! Celtic players on sale!
These clowns 🤡 in charge are looking for the rainy day to happen, so they can be proved right, the race to the bottom

Venta millonaria a la vista: el Celtic de Glasgow aprieta por Hassan
Gossip around Hassan, apparently Celtic have made progress with the transfer
Take it any way you wish
According to reports supported by Spanish media, Celtic is closing in on a deal to sign Haissem Hassan following a reported €11 million offer accepted by Real Oviedo. The player has reportedly accepted a four-year contract with the Scottish club, turning down other interest, with final negotiations ongoing.
Major regional Asturias media, including La Nueva España, confirmed that negotiations advanced rapidly over the last 24 hours, with only minor bonus structures left to iron out

If you wouldn’t mind … what’s the story with Peter G and Scott B ?
(I’ve totally missed this one)
Deniabhoy
Is he any good ?
Bada
Does it look decent ? :)
Will we get “walk like an Egyptian” as his goal tune?
To be honest, not sure if anyone coming in at this late stage is going to make much of an impact or necessarily improve the starting 11 for the Champs League play off.
I think we can all agree that the failure against Kairat last season was a severely misfiring attack that offered little goal threat (Engels, Idah, Bernardo all on the bench and Maeda’s heid wasted). I would think Hogh and Duran were signed specifically to address that issue?
For sure, Celtic’s transfer dealings are a bit like swimming in treacle, but I would think that retaining Engels and Johnson for the play off allows us to field a starting 11 that would be difficult to improve on at this stage?
There ain’t no cure for the summertime blues…
I am looking forward to Hassan getting bought for a near record fee so that the bloggers can determine that –
a) the fee was too much
b) he was bought too late
c) there is a language barrier with his teammates not being able to speak egyptian,
d) he is looking for a flat in Dalmarnock
e) the kids dont have a school
and
f) he is obviously played out of position on his competative debut
