Celtic earned lots of credit for their 3-0 first leg Champions League qualifier win over LASK, but Hibernian’s 0-0 draw away to Gent in the Conference’ playoff was in its own way equally impressive. There remains a lot of work to do in the return leg next week, and it is Hibs after all, but at least two Scottish clubs have reasons to be hopeful for European group stage football this season.
Motherwell had by far the toughest opponent and went down to a predictable loss. At least they were able to enjoy the opening goal against the side who reached the Europa League final last term.
Hearts found Austrian opposition trickier than Celtic. Their 2-2 home draw and a performance which was clearly below Rapid’s standard suggests they may have another crack at Celtic this season without having to worry about too many midweek games.
What can we say about Newco? I’m of the view that despite the early signs, the league season has not yet caught hold and we cannot discount either of the two clubs who pushed us all the way last time. If Celtic are in Champions League duty until late January, while Newco and Hearts have clear midweeks, they have a material advantage over us.
We can enjoy the laughs when they continually fail, but I am not convinced it serves our purpose for them to have a free run at the domestic trophies. It would also suit our purpose if Hibs, Hearts and Newco could all pick up more coefficient points.

We have one foot in the CL after failing in 7 out of 9 and we all know why and how.

Thanks for posting that…but tell me, what is the name of the song?
Even the chief creepy crawlie big Packie reckons we need a few signings and is critical of the delay in signing the players we already have.
@weebobby
“The Town I Loved So Well” was written by the Irish songwriter and producer Phil Coulter in 1973.Song DetailsSubject: Coulter’s childhood growing up in Derry, Northern Ireland.Themes: Nostalgia for his early life, followed by a tragic look at how the conflict of the Troubles transformed his peaceful hometown.Famous Performers: The Dubliners (featuring Luke Kelly and Paddy Reilly), The Fureys, and Coulter himself.
Can you be an angry happy clapper?
Yawn…..
Maestro…thank you. I found it. In the comments I saw Phil Coulter and the HIgh KIngs mentioned and checked out songs they both sang and came up with ‘The Town I Loved So Well’. Love the song. Thanks again…
kinda missing a game today.
could we have played the fixture with a second string
Thought Dietmar Kühbauer had a very good side the other night…
Him along with our current back room team wouldn’t be a bad choice….
Hope we are lining someone up soon ?
He’s unhappy cos others are never happy. I guess that’s empathy, sorta.
bournesouprecipe, great description 👍😂
Angry happy clappers,👌
Liars and angry happy clappers, strange.
I’m in town with good Tims for a curry today, original plan was to get to the game and a curry. Celtic la vie.

Good to see you back aligning with more negative shite about Celtic.
Packie. Yup he is an authority on transfer movements.
What do really dumb folk not understand about the simple facts :
We don’t operate in a vacuum re signing players.
We play in a league of last resort for agents.
Those (I don’t know who they are specifically) tasked with recruiting have scouted really good talent from a distance and got those they could in early. The market won’t shift just because we have deadlines.
Maybe you should ask why you are doing or have done) whatever you do for a living and not a football agent or a ‘head of football’ at some big club if you are such an expert.
I am no expert but I do know we don’t work in a ‘perfect’ market.
I guess for some sad folks Celtic will always be a source of abject misery
https://youtu.be/txapREGWHp0?si=eR4zuYKYAL9VlppS
Misery loves company , so keep up the good work …😜
When I say soon , I mean before August next year 🥴🫣🤣
I don’t enjoy misery, I really enjoy having a good time.
Arlo Guthrie: ‘All they will call you will be, … Deportees.’
Or in Paul Elliott’s case, ‘Ya big black Fenian Ba****d!’
Some things never change…
Thank God that Celtic is a club like no other, and a club open to ALL! 👍🙂🍀

Thanks for that wee tune. Love it, and Eddie Reader is of course one of our own. She’s not slow to let the audience know that at any of her solo concerts.

Yes when Colby was played under Rodgers all we heard was “Oh can’t wait till Johnston is back as Colby clearly won’t do, etc, etc” (whilst Johnston was out from yet another injury) etc, etc.
Rodgers even dropped Colby and Ralston and played Johnston when he was clearly unfit and had to be carried off injured again after being rushed back by super Rodgers. 👀
Then Rodgers threw Colby in at the deep end and was clearly struggling, and hypocrites were saying “he needs to be loaned out, etc” and worse stuff than that.
Super Rodgers thew Dane Murray to the dogs away to Aston Villa from which he clearly hasn’t recovered after a horrible CL away game were we were 2-0 down after 5 minutes were hypocrite fans blamed the board who weren’t anywhere near the dugout, that is were super Rodgers was deployed and not one of these “sack the board” idiots have pointed a single finger at Rodgers for the Aston Villa disaster, or the Dortmund 7-1 disaster that preceded it.
But now they’ll praise Rodgers for not playing Colby, more like dropping Colby in it, as well as Ralston, to cover for Rodgers who clearly played Johnston whilst he was carrying an injury, or wasn’t fully recovered from his last injury. .👀
Clearly every young player won’t have the stuff to play for Celtic, but they have a far better chance now under savvy MON, SHAUN, FOZZY, and the rest of the Mherry Mhen, Rheal Mhen, not pretentious men who whisper behind Dermot’s back rather than front up to him. .👀
This post wasn’t intended to annoy anyone.
Had a look at Mahmic – definitely got something about him. I’d say part Rogic, part O’Riley (maybe with a wee hint of an Armstrong too?). Be good if we could get that one done.
Shaping up to be a pretty decent window. The kind of one that could really have pushed us on in 2023 or 2025, but we got crippled by the bad luck which always seems to come on the back of a domestically dominant season.
How many were put in hospital or suffered real harm during the publicly planned title celebrations.?
To reiterate, I don’t condone criminal behaviour.
However, should it be a policing priority to spend so much of their limited resources on petty criminal activity when sex crimes that ruin lives are at record levels with fewer than half ” cleared” up in Glasgow.
HH
Mahmic will get the juices flowing.

I think the police warned fans not to go to the streets to celebrate and I’m sure that Celtic also warned fans not to go.

Great article by Allan Morrison of the Huddle Breakdown this morning ‘Heart-break and aggrieved entitlement’ . Can’t do a link but well worth searching for .

I’d much rather Colby had an Irish Grandparent than play for Tartan idiots wearing “Black Walk” hats

Burnley, unike your good self,I can offer my congrats to people I really dont like, our Board, when they eventually,do something right. The question remains, why has it taken them so long? The money was always there. At the moment we are still around £ 10 million in profit this window,so now we all know what was always possible. No” going bankrupt “like the Huns.Still bags of money for that mythical” Rainy day”.We have recruited brilliantly well, but again, the major crib with fans is,who was the recruiter?. No information allowed to be made known to the fans, unless its new merchandise.

Kieran McKenna will be here next summer to guide us …..We are hopefully now realistically improving our side and European qualification aspirations and looking after the supporters who live and breath and give there all for there club. Peace ✌️
*thats about the size of it, even MON has said this early that this will be his last season so it looks as if he’s tasked with building us a new side with the aid probably of our manager in waiting.
Bada,,,,,,,,,not too sure about that rumour. In a perfect world, yes. His Chairman waffling on a bit today about Frosinones partners having a big say.We live in hope
Mahmic, Sigur, Emenalo and a GK would finish off a good window.
Hope the signing of any of them isn’t dependent on us reaching CL on Tuesday night. We need them regardless as we will have several weeks of 2-3 games a week coming up.
Mahmic not listed in Slovan Liberec squad
If Batman and Robin were run over by a steam roller, what would they be ? Flat man and Ribbon.
