Hearts away troubles since August

You and I are preoccupied with winning tonight to ensure the gap at the top of the table does not grow beyond the four points it was before this round of games got underway.  Hearts have a different focus; a win would see them leapfrog Celtic into second place.

Early in the season Robbie Neilson was back at or near the top of the table, enjoying the kind of form Hearts showed before he left for MK Dons five years ago yesterday.  His stay in Milton Keynes was a disaster and Heats fared no better with a trio of underperforming managers appointed in his wake.

Form soon slipped, especially away from home, where they have picked up only three points since August, half the amount they collected that month.  Since then they have lost at Motherwell and Aberdeen, while collecting a point at Newco, Ross County and St Johnstone.

I’ve read through match reports for the last two months, it is a tale of attacking abandon at home and belligerent negativity away, marked by red cards on their previous two travels.  We can expect shed loads of belligerence tonight.

They did, of course, beat Celtic 2-1 on the opening game of the season, but that was then.  Celtic have changed beyond all recognition in the months since, notably as Tynecastle debutant, Kyogo, settled into life in Scotland.  Two weeks later Celtic produced one of the most scintillating displays of the season to knock Hearts out of the League Cup, although the 3-2 score suggests otherwise.

Celtic are closing in on full strength going into an intense December fixture list.  If we deliver on our own potential, we don’t need to worry about referees elsewhere.  3 points please, Celtic.

Mikey J proving again he’s more of a threat to our goal than the opposition.

We’re wide open. Where’s the game management?

  2. It’s unbelievable how many chances Celtic have given Johnston, for basically a zero return.

Well done Celts. Big win. Tug in and controlled last 10 mins. I worry much more about December after we fell like flies at the first hurdle. No luck with injuries at all.

we’ll take but jeez we shudve stiffened them Ange….. a wee bit worrying tbh.

right telly aff dont want to listen to that P. Rick bitter boyd

  5. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Job done.

    We look knackered.

    Anti-football from Hearts and referee.

    Disgrace to the sport

  6. Forrest, rogic were dreadful. Time also to move on from mikey johnstone. Arseholes chucking stuff remove their season books.

Jeezo, that was a hard watch. We don’t have many shooting stars in this squad ( if any) .We should swatting these teams aside by half time and taking the Madhuns of Scottish fitbaw out of the equation

  8. Very important win and 3 points but at what cost? So many injuries. Hearts are hammer throwers and Madden gave them free rein to boot the boot in. Devlin’s tackle was a disgrace. We’re any Hearts players booked at all?

  9. Jekyll and Hyde performance – sublime 1st half, stuttering 2nd.

    Unlucky on the injury front.

Juranovic inferior at RB compared to our Tony.

How unimpressive can Scales be if Monty keeps him from even getting a sniff.

Robbie Nielson a modern day, cardboard Jimmy Cagney.

Madden’s customary cheating; as well as ignoring fouls on our guys, gave Hearts every whiff of a free.

And watch him when they step out the 10 yards on our free kicks; 7 and 8 steps rather than 10.

    Kyogo looked offside btw. HH

  10. Dear me, bad for the ticker, but in the end 3 gd points. Quality off the bench just isnt there

Mikey Johnston will be a Patrick Thistle Legend, times up.

Hun like behaviour throwing bottles at players, never a Celtic fan.

  11. TOSB,

How Devlin wasn’t carded for THAT tackle is way beyond baffling. Can only be put down to cheating. Every other team know they can kick lumps out of us and get away with it.

  12. We looked as if we didn’t believe we could score against them in the second half. I believe Starfelt is becoming a very important player for us. He had a great game tonight and played through his injury.

  13. I’m knackered after that and finding hard to process anything.

We win. That’s all I ask for. Memory tells me we played some lovely stuff in the first half.

    Look knackered by the end.

Monumental effort this December and desperately need to get to January.

    Hopefully injuries aren’t too bad.

    Starfelt terrific btw.

I honestly don’t think Thistle would take Johnston as a free gift. He is one of the most ineffectual players I have ever seen. He gives us the square root of SFA.

  15. Ah JHB, my stout hearted Celtic Brother, surely you are feeling a little more confident of 2nd place.

I’m sure your Hun counterpart said the same thing after last nights game against Hibs.
