Hearts first of 5 big games left

586

Fixtures between now and the end of the season fall into two categories: games between Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts, and the rest. Aberdeen and Celtic each have to play Hearts home and away, while the only remaining fixture between the top two will take place at Celtic Park.

Despite the last minute turn-around and Aberdeen’s collapse two weeks ago, we are still very much in a title race which a reversal tomorrow would illustrate. Aberdeen don’t play until Sunday, so, as with two weeks ago, they will have to sit on wait on Celtic’s result. Derek McInnes will have marked this game out weeks ago as one he needs Celtic to drop points in.

Celtic have a settled look about the side. The goalkeeper and defenders have settled into good form, while a fully fit Brown and Bitton anchor the midfield. With Leigh Griffiths up front it’s the three places behind the striker Ronny Deila has to make decisions for.

Kris Commons enjoys playing against Hearts and has not been exerted by international football, he should play. Unlike Tom Rogic, who will surely sit out after his trip to Australia. Your guess is as good as mine as to who will play on the flanks.

    KEEPING the Faith as ever.

  7. 7 hours and counting.

Three points and our cushion will put pressure on Aberdeen.

The sconcers, is that even a proper word, will be silenced.

    The doubters will regain faith.

April will be a memorable month with the likes of Brown, Bitton, Johansen all being used to instill steel in the midfield, allowing the creative players like Roberts, Rogic and Armstrong to support and feed Griffiths’ hunger for goals and a place in our storied history.

You can tell I’m excited by the return to real football.

    Till later.

  8. So we may all bicker during the week on all things Celtic. Pro board v sack the board. Even our fine res.12 guys getting a bit of stick.

On match day, surely this will change.

A United front required to see us to 5 in a row .

Just realised, I have never seen 5 in a row in my watching Celtic, having been just a nipper when the 9 was won.

Games now for me following the passing of my Dad in January take on an almost spiritual feeling.

    I feel him with me.

Every time I step on that Wee bus , every time I set foot in Paradise, I feel I’m walking in his steps.

  9. Morning troops I think todays game will be a cracker Hertz will come out fighting that’s for sure desperate to beat us on our home turf I just hope we are prepared for the battle.

I just hope Madden has no chance to influence the game with an honest mistake & our players can turn on the style just a little to send the support home happy & with the prospect of 5 in a row another step closer

  11. Good morning to all my fellow supporters out there and welcome to Matchday. Yaassssssssss!

A dry, calm and pretty bright morning here in EK although the dark clouds on the horizon appear to be creeping this way. A return to the Strathclyde ParkRun for me this morning. Then back, showered, and on to The Corner. Do say hello ;-)

  12. The Battered Bunnet on

With today’s early kick off, I got up at 5.30am in order to get the full, uninterrupted prematch experience.

Can’t say it’s lived up to expectation thus far.

  13. Morning all.

Nerves kicking in. At the end of the day, I am not bothered who wears the jerseys. Three points is all that matters.

My main concerns are the pitch. It hasn’t looked too good recently and with the rain we had yesterday……………? Well, it could be a lottery. And the MIB allowing Hearts to kick us off the park.

  14. Gerryfaethebrig on

A sprinkling of sunshine breaking through in ML5, I am sure both Strathy park & Celtic park will be bathed in sunshine soon…..

CANAMALAR IT LOOKS LIKE OCD OBSESSION on 1ST APRIL 2016 7:34 PM

    Kill ultra,

“Here’s the thing, I don’t care about BRTH previous work relationships, I go on what has been achieved.”

Really, Canamalar! The end justifies the means. So much for due diligence.

“As for financial support, the main reason for not requesting funds publicly is because it was a cert arseholes like you would do exactly what your now trying to do.”

So. You ARE being funded secretly. Let me guess from where.

  17. CANAMALAR IT LOOKS LIKE OCD OBSESSION on 1ST APRIL 2016 7:36 PM

“Oh and kill ultra, we are obviously getting close to a result eh”

“Else why would a self confessed non entity like you now be trying your utmost to derail it eh”

Canamalar. Resolution 12 has been adjourned three times; it cannot be acted upon at this time.

Your worthy initiative of 2013 has been hijacked, and has morphed into a farrago of drip-fed misinformation, truths and half-truths, secret funding, all of your communications now controlled by Celtic plc

    “A self confessed non entity”

Canamalar. I said I was a run-of-the mill Celtic fan; that is not in any sense a confession. It’s a personal statement of someone who’s proud to be so described. But, if that makes me a non-entity in your eyes, then so be it!

Parkheadcumsalford, in photos from the Foundation’s zip slide last week, the lighting rigs were on the pitch to help stimulate grass growth. Also, not having played on the pitch for four weeks and the weather being a bit better in that period, will hopefully mean the condition of the pitch has improved.

It has felt like the close season with us not playing at Celtic Park for so long.

Madden being the ref is a concern for me. He reffed the Kilmarnock and Motherwell games at Celtic Park and was very tolerant of their players physical approach in both games.

It’s too late in the day to change tack, they deserve our 100% support to see it through. Some of the recent criticism has been utterly repellent, frankly. Get behind them instead.

I’m off until Thursday . The joy of school holidays.

Ever since Madden awarded non penalties in games we had against United and St Mirren , three years ago , I am very wary of him. He also wrongly sent off Victor in that St Mirren game.

He has done his job properly in a few games he has reffed us but he normally winds us up with his interpretaion of football’s rules.

  25. Tough game today, looking forward to it, Madden? The guy is just to stupid to be bias he hasent a clue about the rules and makes them up as he goes along, prob. Not a nice thing to say, but I think he’s not right in the head, so he will prob. Be a shoe in for being in charge of referre game appointments when he retires, it’s a pre request for that job. So good luck to the hoops today, prediction? A hard fought three points is needed, and hopefully achieved HH

Re your last message to Canamalar re funding etc. You end with saying that Res 12 has been secretly funded and you can guess from where, and then you go on to say that it can’t be actioned and that it has been adjourned three times.

Well you are correct in saying that it has been adjourned three times. That was by design, with the agreement of the board and it will formally be on the agenda again come November. What would you have preferred — that it be quietly dropped from the agenda or booted into touch by being voted down by the corporate machine? It is still a live issue and I suspect that more people are talking about it and indeed engaged in it now than back in 2013. In the interim, it has been and is being actioned as per the recent updates etc.

With regard to funding, if you are insinuating that whatever funds have been made available thus far have come from Celtic you would be wrong. The funding that has been received so far has come from three private individuals none of whom have any connection with the Celtic board to my knowledge, and the biggest single contribution has come from one of the requisitioners — someone with whom you have regular discourse on here and who has been involved from the very start — and for the avoidance of doubt it ain’t me.

Res 12 can’t have been hijacked if those who were at the very root of its existence still control its direction of travel. They might not control the final outcome of the issues but they can control the direction of travel of the resolution.

Anyway, let me ask you a question:

Do you think this matter should be referred to UEFA/CFCB and do you think the shareholders should refer it there through the solicitors who have been retained?

While I am on let me clarify somethig else.

Last night, late on, Big Nan and I had a discourse about those who are members of that cabal called the speculative soicety. Without reading back I think I said that I knew a few of them only for Nan to come back on and say that in a private message I had previously said something different — namely that I knew “Many” of them as opposed to a few.

I have checked back and Big Nan is indeed correct — I did say “Many” in the DM.

By Many I meant — maybe somewhere between 10 or 20 such members == equally I believe that number to qualify for the term “few” as well because I don’t know how many members there are in total but I suspect that it runs to many many hundreds or maybe even more.

Normally the words few and many would not be interchangeable — and I take Nan’s point on that — but in this case there is no great distinction between the two terms in my eyes.

However, the most important thing is that I was not in any way trying to change my previous emphasis or downplay how many members of this so called society i have come across. For all I know I may have come across more than I know. As I have never been invited to join their ranks – and never would if so invited – I have no definite idea who is in and who is out. Though I can make a right good stab at a few who would be out I think.

Big Nan has asked me to clarify all of that on here which I am more than happy to do.

For the sake of transparency I also post my DM to him from last night below.

Now off to see if I can pick a winner from WITS horses:

    ————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Tom just checked. You are correct — my DM said I knew “Many” members of the Spec — but many doesn’t mean the majority or even a lot. When I say “Many” I mean maybe between 10 and 20 — several of whom didn’t talk about it and most of the others knew my view that it was a garbage tradition or code or whatever. I think there are whole families in there — QC’s, Sheriffs, Senior Partners in establishment firms etc — not my kinda thing at all.
