Hearts pick and choose when to be competitive

135

Hearts miserly return of 12 points from 17 games, a draw against Livingston their only point amid defeats to Kilmarnock, St Johnstone, Motherwell and Newco, tell the story as to why Craig Levein was sacked and our opponents tonight are joint-bottom of the league.

Still, there are reasons for concern.  Celtic were two points off the pace before Newco went to Tynecastle in October and were held.  Hearts also raised their game sufficiently to beat Hibs.  This is a team who did not take a point from two meetings with St Johnstone, but were able to be competitive when it mattered to them – against Hibs and Newco.  Tonight will matter just as much.

A win will see Celtic go five points clear, albeit having played a game more, but points in the bag is always preferable to the burden of more games on the roster.  This is also likely to be our only visit to Tynecastle this season, and maybe next, unless new manager Daniel Stendel can motivate his players to try a little harder against lesser sides.

Their fans attack our players if they get too near (Sinky) or by hurling the ball at them when it goes into the crowd , they assault our manager by coming on to the pitch or by throwing coins , they assault our players and stand over them screaming abuse while they are on the ground.

This is far beyond being ‘competitive’ . This is not normal behaviour for any club . They are worse than their big cousins (only just). Any win will do , but 5 goals or more would make my Christmas.

Bowie changed. He condemned racism. He married a Somali woman. The evidence for his change of view is easily found. Where’s the evidence Rod Stewart’s views have changed?

Macjay . There is a huge difference between atrocities carried out by individuals or groups and atrocities carried out by agents of the State.

    Absolutely right.

However , what is the S.A. govt. doing about those racist attacks ?

Or the frequent racist sickening murders of white farmers which have been going on for years ?

    Not a lot.

    Blatant double standards.

  5. Who would we rather have at Celtic Park, someone with a very historic racist comment or modern day baby killing supporters? Hmm.

    Good article.

This fixture is historically very difficult and the club we face is an Edinburgh version of Sevco, and we all know what that means.

NFL will be on it, another good reason why his experience as our manager proved vital in his appointment.

In my opinion another atrocity being carried out on our grandchildren is the reluctance of Bastards like Trump to recognize & act on the dangers of Global warming.

    ===================================================================

Trump sees through the scam which simply obliges US to provide aid to ” developing ” countries on the pretext that they will curb emissions.

    India doesn`t.

    China doesn`t .

Why not . Are they polluters ?

    Two further points.

Your use of the word bastard diminishes the power of your argument.

US citizens voted for a bastard ? What an insult to them.

I try not to ” ridicule ” anyone on this blog , however if they insult , then the gloves are off.

A significant part of my education was scientific . In my lifetime and before there have been significant scientific pronouncements which have subsequently proved to be in error.

    Scepticism is healthy.

My current stance is one of agnosticism. Partly because I don`t trust the left and its ulterior motives or some of the frankly ludicrous claims made about ” only ten years left ” to ” save the planet “.

Do you believe that nonsense ?

Whether it be Global warming or Feminism , both adopted and promoted by the left.

Equally , there is no proof that the global warming theory is a fact. A strongly held scientific opinion. But no proof.

Finally the use of the 16 y.o. lass , who has a medical problem , to cause panic among her global contemporaries is outrageous.

For her and for her juvenile audience.

  10. Macjay,

I normally refrain from using a word like Bastard when referring to someone I intensely dislike maybe I should have described him as odious. Either way he is in my opinion a disgraceful human being and the fact that millions voted for him doesn’t change that a whit.

I understand Australia is currently experiencing the hottest weather since records commenced. The entire Landscape of Greenland is changing with melting Glaciers. I’m not saying we have 10 years to save the Planet but I am saying the World has to change & the Developed World has to take the lead.

The much maligned EU are launching a major plan in that regard which I welcome but if Trump led USA continue to renege it will be to their eternal shame. I have little doubt that when the odious Trump is consigned to the dustbin of history, attitudes in the US will change for the better.

Trump tells congresswomen: Go back where you came from

The president’s tweets seemed intended to exploit party tensions, but instead rally the caucus against him.

By BIANCA QUILANTAN AND DAVID COHEN 7/15/19, 11:13 AM CET Updated 7/16/19, 8:12 AM CET

U.S. President Donald Trump, jumping into the middle of a feud among House Democrats, called out progressive congresswomen in xenophobic terms on Sunday, saying, “Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”

While he didn’t mention them by name in his series of tweets, Trump was presumably targeting some of the caucus’ best-known freshman women of color: Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.).

“So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run,” the president wrote.

Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib and Pressley were all born in the United States. Omar, a Somalian refugee, immigrated to the U.S. with her family in the early 1990s.

We were at a protest at Murrayfiled protesting against Apertheid when South Africa played Scotland and I was carrying a banner which read ” Don’t scrum with white scum”. Anyway to get to the point. Those , like me, who are Socialists or Labour fans have got to look at what the Labour party actually did for Scotland prior to the real emergence of the SNP. Before you slag off the SNP, (and I am not a lover of them) just ask what Labour did when they had the clout, not a hell of a lot, or as this is a football blog, SFA.
