Hearts pick and choose when to be competitive

135

Hearts miserly return of 12 points from 17 games, a draw against Livingston their only point amid defeats to Kilmarnock, St Johnstone, Motherwell and Newco, tell the story as to why Craig Levein was sacked and our opponents tonight are joint-bottom of the league.

Still, there are reasons for concern.  Celtic were two points off the pace before Newco went to Tynecastle in October and were held.  Hearts also raised their game sufficiently to beat Hibs.  This is a team who did not take a point from two meetings with St Johnstone, but were able to be competitive when it mattered to them – against Hibs and Newco.  Tonight will matter just as much.

A win will see Celtic go five points clear, albeit having played a game more, but points in the bag is always preferable to the burden of more games on the roster.  This is also likely to be our only visit to Tynecastle this season, and maybe next, unless new manager Daniel Stendel can motivate his players to try a little harder against lesser sides.

  1. The reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated (mainly by me) but thanks for the thoughts.

    Bankibhoy1 – MAMILs R Us 😁

Missed work today as struggling with whiplash like neck pain. Been checked out and hope to be match fit shortly.

    Mon the Hoops tonight.

    Big Jimmy get well soon!

Really is a big game tonight. Win and open up a five point lead, the impact on those who shall remain nameless (like their fathers before them @ corkcelt) is immeasurable, as in it can not be measured. Oh aye.

Not quite back to full strength just yet, not till El Hamed is fit in my book, but strong enough to collect three points in one of our favourite grounds. To pick up three points that is.

  3. Romanians often get a bad press over here. but there is a lovely wee Romanian girl who works in a coffee shop where I call 3 or 4 days a week for my cuppa and a Blueberry Muffin, usually accompanied by Mrs. Corkcelt.

She is unfailingly pleasant and always insists on us taking a seat & bringing down our order to the table. Most of the other girls just put the stuff on a tray and you bring it to the table yourself.

Anyhow to get to the point the other day I was getting my coffee etc which cost 5 euro, I gave her a 20 & told her keep the change, a small tip when you consider the scores of time she served me.

Anyhow we were in there this afternoon & just about to leave when she came rushing over with a Christmas Present for Mrs. CorkcCelt. I reckon the poor lass spent the tip on the present.

I don’t know what to do now, I think I’ll try & give her a bigger tip after Christmas & warn her no more presents.

It reminds me years ago we had a couple of Chernobyl kids staying with us & obviously you would be treating them & buying them a bit of stuff as they had nothing.

One day one of them found a fiver which would be a fortune to them, the little guy rushed to the shop with the fiver and bought me a present.

Today brought that long forgotten memory back,

Don’t judge people on their Nationality or on their standing,

    Say No to Racism.

  4. Corkcelt – hear! Hear!!

Meant to highlight this in the, ahem, Glasgow Times.

Neil Cameron – “he’s got a personality that is hard to dislike. Morelos isn’t perfect, but nobody is.”

  8. Was talking to an old friend in Aberdoom. He and his two sons had booked up a corporate visit to Liverpool last weekend.

Although the booking was with Thomas Cook Liverpool honoured it.

    Well done Liverpool.

    HH.

  9. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

Not a huge fan of that team.

    – Taylor over Hayes for me;

    – If playing 4-2-3-1, play proper wingers, i.e use Sinclar or Shved, don’t stick Christie out on the wing as I don’t think it works well to players out of position.

We need a new winger in January as NL only fancies JF, Mo and MJ. MO and MJ seem to be struggling and JF cannot play every game.

  10. Corckcelt

Post of the day, really uplifting post that has me up for tonight’s battle.

This blog was depressing me with the heartless racist, Tories. HH

  11. SID

Corkcelt’s post was as much about not judging people because of their nationality – surely then it’s the same for people of different political persuasions. Yes some Tories are heartless and some racist but the same can be said about various members of political parties.

Anyway 3 points a must tonight
