Hearts resentment reservoir

581

If you do not have a knot in your stomach, you should.  Hearts managed to relegate themselves last season through inept performances against teams clearly below them in the food chain.  They upped their game against Hibs and (especially) Newco, posing questions that the Budgeocracy has yet to consider.  On Sunday, we face a team of usually-can’t-be-bothereds with a grudge.

In October, they started their Championship campaign by putting six goals past Dundee, whom they blame for siding with Peter Lawwell in the discussions that determined how last season’s league campaign would end.  Then they beat Hibs, who they can always be bothered to play, in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The new stands at Tynecastle act as a reservoir of resentment and Celtic are top of their list.  Who else, other than their players, either managers, or the insightful new broom that was going to show football how it’s done in the business world, is there to blame for their relegation than Celtic.

And then there’s Eddie.  You and I didn’t really discuss this at the time.  A photo circulated showing the keeper took him out, but that was ‘fake news’ as it was not of the penalty incident in the 2019 final.  Hand on heart; I think we got away with one then.  A goal down in the second half, Odsonne Edouard took control; before you knew it, you were celebrating a Treble Treble.

I do not respect Heart of Midlothian FC whatsoever, but I respect any opponent who can so readily cultivate the unifying resentment that can produce results like the 4-0 that ended Celtic’s world record 69 domestic games unbeaten.  This is a proper team, better than most in the Premiership and more than capable of winning on Sunday.  If we are one inch less prepared than them, we will lose.

Before the Lille and Kilmarnock wins I saw a shroud of defeat ahead at Hampden.  We may have turned it around just in time, but for now, the stomach remains knotted.

  1. My reasonings are simply that good should win over evil. We have no devine right to automatically win- I accept this. They are cheats financially, ethically and morally. They get help- we all know that.

So with the best will in the world I respect if some have given up. Not me. We do need to apply pressure though and some big wins in the league- which I think we can achieve with our squad.

  2. The new NI lockdown has led to a cancellation of elite sport. Given the much stricter regime we are about to enter in Scotland, what are the chances of SPFL games being called off?

  3. No way has the 10 gone,a lot of work to be done admittedly,if any player had that mindset he would be shown the door.

  4. lets all do the huddle on

must be a real hard core strain of the virus if it doesnt even take a holiday over Christmas, unlike the original strain that is taking 5 days holiday according to our governments

  5. If we win at the Bigotdome, then we are effectively 4 behind (if we win games in hand).

About 17 games to play including 2 Derbies , why on earth would any Tim give up on the ten at this stage.

  6. It’s still mathematically possible to win the league.

So let’s all get behind the team.

First though lets win this cup manana.

  7. Last few minutes it’s starting to slip away from Mayo. Dubs 4 pts ahead now, & Mayo starting to make mistakes.

    A pity but not unexpected.

  8. lets all do the huddle on

if it is still in our own hands – and it is – and we dont do it then we can blame no one but us

would still like to see other teams take points off them obviously

I was watching the Man City game and noticed the HT score at Ibrox. Watched second half and trust me they looked like a man walking on glass, very fortunate on two of the goals. Third was a peach though, but they have no bottle, win at their place Will impound them.

  10. Ah well, you would have to feel sorry for Mayo, how many finals & semis is that where did just came up short,

Surely in sport there are always plenty of “if”s … I do realise you are not a Neil Lennon fan and that’s fair enough but I think you were even moaning about the 2019 Scottish cup final earlier …

Serious question … does being a Celtic fan bring you any joy ?

Hope you have a great day tomorrow watching our team :-)

Sturgeon said: “Very firm preventative action is now necessary – this is probably the most serious and potentially most dangerous juncture since the start of the pandemic.”

The new measures to combat the “once in a century pandemic”

serious enough to take action against by far the biggest cause of the spread of the virus?

i.e. close the schools for the same length of time?

if not then this is all just window dressing

which comes at a cost of lives and jobs

the schools are shut for 2 weeks at christmas anyway

    just make it 3

    the weans will be fine

the uk governments’ (all parts of..) solution to combat the virus so far has basically been to make sure Mrs Miggins’ Pie Shop shuts at 6 oclock

and not actually tackle the real causes of transmission

who would have thought it would be the complete failure it has turned out to be?

  15. LETS ALL DO THE HUDDLE on 19TH DECEMBER 2020 7:01 PM

Do you have school age children or grandchildren?

  16. unfortunateky what I am going to predict is a lockdown more severe than the first one.

Viruses always mutate over time, if this strain is more transferable then only a lockdown , while people get vacinnated at the same time will stop it.

peoples behaviour is spreading the virus. letting school kids mix is crucial in all this.

A family member shared their boys class in primary, last day at school on friday, all doing a silent disco conga, in the same room, they go home , they played football today, their parents were in the shops.

In the shops today i witnessed two couples chatting with the mask doon past their noses, They were still chatting 20 minutes later when i left the shop,

many tell me they are having the max xhristmas that is allowed, which actually means they will just do whatever they want.

a near neighbour is having some sort of gathering tonight a stream of visitors to the house and it is still early.

local barber earlier today was packed out, yes, socially distanced and screens, and masks and PPE, but with the doors shut.

the first footballer with the new strain of the virus will maybe see their own club shutdown for a periond.

it is all going to happen,

people thought it was all over. it is now.

Your reasoning is that good should win over evil. No one will argue with that ( well, except Satan maybe😅 ). But consider this – the inestimable Auldheid and his Res 12 cohorts have proved conclusively that we, ( as represented by the Celtic Board, and Peter Lawwell ) have knowingly, deliberately, and secretly conspired to be complicit in the continuation of this evil. Without a shadow of a doubt, Celtic have sanctioned corruption, the antithesis of the concept of sport.

  18. I happened to be walking towards the local primary school the other day just as the bell was going for home time. I had to take avoiding action when confronted with a huge crowd of parents all standing together chatting and waiting for their kids. Surely things can be better arranged than that if we’re to kick this horrible virus.

  19. The very lucky Celt only, will sit on the eve of a quadruple treble,

Celtic are set to complete the unique, with an angsty support, that have seen multi million pound buys perform where a penny wasn’t previously spent. No planes, trains or automobiles, no sun weathered walk up King’s Park Ave, no beer in a Gazebo, no Jinky, no Macari , Hood, Deans, McGhee, Provan McAvennie, Lennox, Chalmers, McNeill or Connolly. It’s just another laptop Sunday, with totally un Celtic like, incidental football.

Not so much as a single Celtic fan in Hampden, where we’ve sat on the steps with dusty eyes, or climbed upon each others shoulders to greet the Hooped up heroes, tomorrow is nonetheless still very much worldwide, lap it up day.

If there were to be some form of mild insignificant retribution for a Deadco FC it is altogether bound to be 2020, the year of Covid, and its probably already written by the Celtic gods. The devil is in the detail, down to the same red card, red card standside referee’s assistant who ‘pounds’ the same south of a river white line, on any given locked down or not Saturdays and Sundays.

There is plenty in the Celtic tank to tank and we beat all kinds of everything, on these ole blades of grass, besides Neil Francis, if you can’t motivate Celtic you can’t motivate, tomorrow is May day, so may your Celtic go with you
