Hearts still to pay supplier

277

The devastating news that Hamilton Accies were scammed out of £750k prompted Hearts to acknowledge their own victimisation on Friday evening: “Heart of Midlothian can confirm it was the subject of an internet fraud earlier this year. The matter is now part of an active police investigation and therefore no further comment will be made.”

What Hearts didn’t say is that the £80k they intended to pay to their supplier “earlier this year” remains outstanding. You can decide if that’s a result of arrogant bloody-mindedness or a financial tightness. I could believe either. The club should accept that whatever crime took place, they still need to pay their supplier.

This type of scam is far from rare, I know several victims and (literally) dozens who have been targeted in this way. Hearts initial reaction – telling no one about it, is the most common, as it averts reputational damage, but the wider interests are better served by making the scam public’ alerting other potential victims of the need for vigilance.

Hamilton Accies do great and expensive work developing young footballers. I hope the club have the wherewithal to continue.

  4. Why should we do anything for a club who has Park as a major shareholder – he could divert some of the funds he is using to keep Sevco alive, although how he can serve two mistresses is a mystery

  5. The huns are trying to portray themselves alongside Accies as fellow victims of fraud.

Speaking of bings, there used to be an enormous one in Kilwinning. Totally dominated the landscape,as you might expect.

Formed from the waste from the mines and the ironworks in the area,it was decided to get rid of it in the 70s.

So how do you get rid of something that big?

Easy-dump it in the sea. Which they did,to form most of Hunterston Deep-water Terminal for BSC.

  8. Very strong gusts in Dublin now. One 5′ x 6′ fence panel blown out. Hope the other fifteen remain in situ.

Wind coming from the north east, before swinging round to the west, like a high jumper approaching the bar.

Like Tam O’ Shanter’s wife, Ophelia is ” nursing her wrath to keep it warm”.

  10. Ernie, no info , but i got the impression the Hamilton scam was over a period of time, the huns will no doubt try and climb aboard it, and say they were done out of £7 mil…..:)

  14. As for helping out Accies,no way, charity begins at home, upgrade the front of the Main, and Front Stands, also a good luck of paint wouldn’t go wrong, don’t think it’s had a good overhaul, since McCann’s days,so those who slate Ibrox,as a midden, need to take a look closer home,

  15. Thom, Don’t get too complacent, it’s moving in your direction, gusting hard here at the moment.

Had to go out & call to son’s house to check on a couple of grandkids, it was rough enough out there.

No way complacent. As I said, she is gathering herself to hit, sometime this afternoon.

Like yourself, I have trees outside my house.

If any of them come down, in the wrong direction, I am in trouble.

The situation changes very quickly, as it develops.

Lets hope we all get through this unscathed.

  19. WITS,

Joking aside, I’ve just had a very lucky escape a tree has come down to my rear & missed the house by a couple of feet. I don’t think there is any damage done but the tree is blocking my view so not sure of garden shed or back wall.

Another tree gone from the Green in front.
