Hearts still to pay supplier

277

The devastating news that Hamilton Accies were scammed out of £750k prompted Hearts to acknowledge their own victimisation on Friday evening: “Heart of Midlothian can confirm it was the subject of an internet fraud earlier this year. The matter is now part of an active police investigation and therefore no further comment will be made.”

What Hearts didn’t say is that the £80k they intended to pay to their supplier “earlier this year” remains outstanding. You can decide if that’s a result of arrogant bloody-mindedness or a financial tightness. I could believe either. The club should accept that whatever crime took place, they still need to pay their supplier.

This type of scam is far from rare, I know several victims and (literally) dozens who have been targeted in this way. Hearts initial reaction – telling no one about it, is the most common, as it averts reputational damage, but the wider interests are better served by making the scam public’ alerting other potential victims of the need for vigilance.

Hamilton Accies do great and expensive work developing young footballers. I hope the club have the wherewithal to continue.

The rules would be applied quick enough if we were to do that, and fine you know it :-)

Thing is nobody will take them to task on it, rules, what rules.

  3. Roof blown off the stand at Turners Cross no game for Cork City tonight. Storm force now hitting south Dublin. City streets in Dublin deserted. Everyone staying indoors except the usual gobshites who endanger themselves and emergency services by walking on the seafront.

  4. We were to play in a club in downtown Belfast tonight. The bass player rings up and says to the manager–” The schools and banks are shut, shops are closing, and the transport system is closing as well . What about tonight?”

    The reply?

“Sure it’s only a wee bit of wind. We’ll be open.”

I’ve already 3/4 rosemary tiles off my roof.

By the way Corkcelt, I tried voting for your niece last week, but the site refused my email address several times. Hope she does well.

  6. It’s the thought that counts Raymac, Thank you for trying. If we are beaten by a vote, I’ll demand a recount.

Anyway voting doesn’t close till next Friday, so I might be bold enough to repost the link on Thursday and there may be a few who missed original post who might make up for ‘the lost vote.’

But it doesn’t look as if Celtic have asked ( or demanded!) that the SFA should have included themselves in the ambit of the Compliance Officer’s brief, as being alleged to be in breach of UEFA rules.

    ============================

John, I wrote recently to the club in my capacity as a shareholder to express my concern that the SFA were limiting the Compliance Officer’s remit to a simple case of did Rangers mislead the SFA.

I received a reply basically saying Celtic have to let the agreed SFA judicial process take its course, and then they will decide on their next move.

As far as I am aware Celtic have every single piece of evidence in their possession that the Res 12 guys worked so hard to gather.

As we all now know, the SFA at the very least have clarification to provide that goes way beyond a simple case of being misled. This isn’t going to go away and the longer the SFA silence on a response goes on leads me to speculate they might be snookered and are struggling to come up with a justification.

As Celtic said to me in their response the release of correspondence between them and the SFA shows just how questioning they have been.

I think it’s time the Celtic Board were given a break on this and in my view people’s ire should be fixed firmly on the other Scottish clubs who were also denied by the licence award in 2011 yet still seem willing to be sh*t upon by the SFA from a great height. If that is not the case, then it is time they grew a set and made that publicly known.

    Upthehoops 7.20 & John Clark.

Yup what you were told is the positon.

No frigging way are the Res12 guys going to allow any attempt by SFA at side tracking to go unchallenged.

They (who by this time surely represent the majority of Celtic shareholders) and Celtic are at one on where matters currently stand.

    This is accountability in action.

  10. Talking about Ashley selling. If my memory serves me well he sold some of his hun monkey shares to Clubfoot 1872 and some Chinese dude, who has never been heard of since. Can anybody enlighten us to what said Chinese dude is into, apart from maybe money laundering?

  17. The Hamilton story is a strange one and one where I world urge caution.

I was told from a very interesting source that Hamilton were run or influenced by gangsters, allegedly.

So if that contained any truth then that would make this news even more interesting.

Cheers, they have a good youth system and loved what they did for wee jay but they were not interested in a review of the SFA, so i can’t support anyone not interested in dealing with corruption.
